Making an amateur $6 bet thanks to Equibase's free past performances.
Playing the sport of kings for fun not the mortgage.
All bets are real, so are the losses.
Be welcoming.
Have fun!
Through the vagaries of life, got called away and kept away until race time.

Lucky for me, none of my bets would have paid.

Sometimes the best bet is the one to stay away (whether you meant to or not!).

Will need to watch two things here: exacta pools and the weather

None have raced on off track so mud today=bet tomorrow

If we can get >$4 in the exacta pools, might box 1 & 2 at $3.
Also consider a 1 & wheel the field exacta

Otherwise, if 1 is bet hard, might do a $2-$4 win-place on 2

7 Charlie Hustle is most famous for betting on other horses. Drops in class, but has been 14+lengths back at the quarter pole in both races. Slow workout times make me overly reluctant.

6 Runaway Roscoe had the dreaded "no impact" note on his only finish (I assume he finished). Is trained by Finger Lakes stalwart Chris Englehart, but I don't see any reason to pick 6.

4 Drop Me a Dime very green in only start and followed that up with a substandard workout. Might be dreaming of Florida weather

5 Moneybags Milton has some of the worst workouts you can have. 224th out of 224 in Oct, 174th out of 175 in Nov. Fooled the clocker for a bullet later, but won't get my $

2 Red Fern has seen his workouts take a dip in quality, but gains a big leg up putting Manny Franco in the irons.

Got a bad break in November, but improved in the final quarter, so with this thin field more than capable. Might be an exacta play if the pools are right.

The remaining 6 have a total of 9 races between them, so a bit tough to gauge how this will shake out

1 Mo Curls will be HEAVY favorite. Dropping down from maiden special weight to claiming, turf to durt, sprint to route. Despite those changes, best speed figsures & closing well last time out.

Scratch the 3 Reign It In and 8 Golden Miracle.

We're down to six runners.

DING! DING! 9 Gracie‘s Delight was by far the class of the field, which was evidently known by everyone as she was bet down hard to even money.

Lucky for the Six Dollar Hobby the second place horse was 22-1 giving us a nice cut at the place money.

Nice little evening.

I’m sticking with the 9 Gracie’s Delight. $3 win-place.

Let’s get lucky!

Shucks.

8 Rumbar scratched.
December 10, 2025 at 11:47 PM
Elsewhere: 2 Blackwing steadily improving speed figs, but can't do better than 7 lengths behind winners

8 Rumbar a serious contender after cutting back from routes. Stepping off turf. The real story here is her combo of trainer Ben Colebrook & jockey Dylan Machado who regularly turn $2 into $7.90!

Top pick is 9 Gracie's Delight

Has shown early speed, improving form. Favorite in her last 2 starts at Saratoga & Keeneland says she's ready for the competition.

Since runner-up last race, has turned 2 sub-minute 5 furlong workouts including a bullet.

This 4-time starter gets the win nod.

7 Dream Chick steps off the turf for her 4th start

Last time out in late October hit the gate in a 2nd place effort at Horseshoe Indy against lesser competition, but this was a good bounce back from previous slogs in routes

Dream Chick has had turf in her face before, so I like her to make noise.

5 Princess Julie debuted at Churchill Downs in unimpressive fashion on Nov. 16.

Since then, she shaved over a second off of her 4 furlong workout time.

If you consider the race a workout, her trend line is getting faster. Worth a least a peak or inclusion in an exacta play.

Morning line likes the Brad Cox entry 10 Lighten. This Juddmonte filly has pedigree & connections to make noise, but I'll pass for two reasons.

1) Debut in a big field.
2) Workouts are a bit tepid.

This is the oldest horse in the field, so that might bode well, but I'll be happy to be wrong.
December 10, 2025 at 7:18 PM
A dozen 2-year-old maidens hit the track, half of them racing for the very first time. This 1-turn tussle should set up to be quite the tangle.

Will a pace demon leave the jockeying to the 2nd pack? Or will some steady-Eddie successfully stave off their burst to take it off the pace?
December 10, 2025 at 7:15 PM
SCRATCH!

Out go the also eligibles
December 10, 2025 at 7:07 PM
We’ll try again soon.
December 9, 2025 at 11:48 PM
They were FIVE wide around the far turn. Bottled up a lot of the other runners, but 11 Go Sparky was positioned perfectly to swing to the outside for an unfettered gallop home.

8 Rock'n Awesome took the early lead to the top of the stretch and ran a very good 2nd place.

No luck for our big swing.
December 9, 2025 at 11:46 PM
Since this one is 11 et al, we'll get crazy.

$1 superfecta 11/2,3,12

Let's get lucky.
