Making an amateur $6 bet thanks to Equibase's free past performances. Playing the sport of kings for fun not the mortgage. All bets are real, so are the losses. Be welcoming. Have fun!

"Sovereignty to RULE the Kentucky Derby!"

Nice call from Larry Collmus.

Sovereignty wins the Kentucky Derby
It's amazing that people get to fill out their tax return and enter "farrier" for occupation.
COAL BATTLE saw the farrier for a shoe reset
Sovereignty was very good to me.

A great, great Kentucky Derby.
There was no doubting Good Cheer’s closing power, and she proved it yet again.

She even had a past win in the slop.

Will we see her at Pimlico in two weeks?
All this guarantees Baeza wins the Travers, right?
Outlaw matching saddle cloths!

I’m looking at you, Keeneland.
Looking at the win-place-show handles for today’s races at Santa Anita.

Two of the biggest were restricted races for Northern California horses and horsemen.

Keep. Writing. These. Races.

Thoughts @andrewchampagne.bsky.social?
Quick look at the PPs and Journalism's work in the final quarter jumped out. Even more excited about his work through (albeit limited) traffic.

He could be the favorite in the Derby, and for good reason.
That's one I don't mind missing on. 6 Andrea was definitely helped with the class relief, but I couldn't make my mind up about 2, 4, and 8.

Took a mild swing and missed.

Oh well.
Strange things are a foot on the board.

I'm spooked.

4 Madam Mitole to SHOW.

Let's get lucky!

(I reserve the right to un-freak-out at post time and put her to WIN.)
Unless the exacta pools are >10, might stick with 4 Madam Mitole across the board or win-place.

Hopefully there's no more scratches to keep the wagering lively.
7 Sharedashenanigans won at Laurel on debut, but didn't show too much after a 5 month layoff.

2 Junta won debut, lost by 15 at a mile 40 yards, then made mild move finishing 6 furlongs. Exotics play only.
6 Andrea won on debut then beat a stakes field of 10 at Gulfstream.

Since, has not measured up in stakes company, but has shown good early speed.

Dropping in class and a bit in distance.

Hard to ignore.
8 Obliging is 1 day younger than Madam Mitole. Taking 4th crack at allowance racing after no success at 2 year old stakes races.

Will be on the pace, especially to make up for outside post. I think she'll not have enough in the tank late though. Maybe an exacta, but not a win bet for her.
I'm a fan of 4 Madam Mitole.

Broke the maiden right after turning 3. In fact, she destroyed the field to lead by 4 at the top of the stretch and then win by 8+. Tried stretching out to a route for her first allowance and faltered.

I like her at this distance. Has early speed to find the leaders.
How much does the track influence our decision making?

Does a flame out at Keeneland negate success at Tampa Bay?
What about hitting the board at Presque Isle?
4/2/2025
Tampa Bay Downs race 6
Allowance Optional Claiming $75,000
7 furlongs on the dirt
3 year old filles
8 runners
Kids, don’t believe everything you read.

I admit that I fell for some outside advice on the 8 horse. Should have stuck with my gut.

Oh well.
We're gonna stick with 4 to be near the top.

Exacta key bow 4/2,8,9

Let's get lucky!
Still two hours to race time.

4,9,2 exacta box?
Exacta key box 4/2,8,9?
Exacta box 4,9?

9 in the win-place-show pools?

8 in the show pool?
Forgot to mention 5 Cashout Carol is the beneficiary of the lighting fast fingers of the clockers.

Workouts of 1:00.2, 1:01.6, 35.8, and 35.4 will make you think twice, but she steadily loses ground in the final quarter mile, so I'll pass.
