Asked to detail the nature of that investigation by a parliamentary committee last month, AD chief operating officer Dale Furse took the question on notice. The $46.8 million awarded to BAE Systems Digital Intelligence after Bradshaw joined ASD was a dramatic increase on the contracts handed to the company in the five prior years - collectively worth $553,000. It also outstripped the value of contracts handed to BAE Systems Digital Intelligence by other government agencies between March 2020 and June 2025. Over that time, the Defence Department awarded the company $25.9 million in work, while the Australian Federal Police gave it $1.8 million. The overwhelming majority of contracts awarded to BAE Systems Digital Intelligence by the AD between March 2020 and June 2025 were sole sourced, meaning there was no approach to market or open tender. They were worth about 60 per cent of the value of all government contracts awarded to BAE Systems Digital Intelligence over that period. BAE Systems Digital Intelligence provides cybersecurity, analytics and systems support to governments and defence agencies across the world. Its most lucrative contract with ASD was a $14.6 million deal for engineering services, published in October 2022. It has also signed other major agreements with ASD, including $4.8 million for software maintenance in December 2024 and $4.3 million for hardware maintenance in August 2023. The Inspector-General investigation began after a public interest disclosure over the process behind a contract signed with BAE Systems Digital Intelligence, according to people briefed on the matter. The public interest disclosure inquiry ultimately evolved into what is known as an "own motion inquiry", which the Inspector-General can launch when a disclosure reveals systemic misconduct, a serious breach or raises

A new report from the Clean Energy Regulator infers emissions from facilities covered by the Safeguard Mechanism fell by 3.2 MT last year.

But, also states 12 fewer facilities are covered this year, so emissions may not have been reduce at all (or only marginally).

Beyond that, it’s likely the true numbers are even worse given the report seems to have excluded pricing in Queensland’s decision to keep coal in the energy mix for a decade longer.
