My post #WorldCon plane book was Anne de Marcken’s It Lasts Forever and Then It’s Over- a literary zombie novel using undead bodies as a metaphor for grief. It's short, spare, & poetic, with allusions to Judith Butler & Djuna Barnes.

Liked it. Not sure I got everything it was doing on this read.

Just finished Kay Chronister's THE BOG WIFE. Melancholy, lovely ecogothic/folk-horror novel about a dysfunctional family navigating their collective griefs & figuring out a new way to relate to each other and the land. #posthumanism #Gothic #ecocriticism

Just read THE GRAPES OF WRATH for the first time. The descriptions of police violence against "Okie" migrant workers and tent cities being cleared felt more timely than I was expecting.

The new SECRET LEVEL episodes are out! Now I can say how excited I was to write for THE OUTER WORLDS. The FALLOUT games are favorites of mine, and TOW adapts their spirit to a pulpy space opera setting. Heather Anne Campbell did a fantastic job with the script & the SL team worked wonders.

The Jan / Feb issue of Asimov’s is out with new stories by me, James Patrick Kelly, Robert Reed, Rick Wilber, and Jendayi Brooks-Flemister. My own contribution is a tale of avian espionage in a different corner of the ‘Airwalker’ multiverse.

Just finished reading the latest "Assassin's Apprentice" graphic novel and I love this story SO. MUCH.

Just dorking out right now!

Belated post to say I finally read Chandrasekera’s Saint of Bright Doors and loved it. V smart take on legacies of empire as filtered through a south Asian family saga / fantasy story that refuses the usual tropes. Recommended.

I’m working my way through the 2022 ‘Best American SFF’ and catching up on all the short stories I’d meant to read last year. “Let all the Children Boogie” by Sam J Miller is one of my favorites so far. Genuine heart and pain in this tale of queer kids connecting in a pre-internet world.
