Oh, not disagreeing with that at all. I would argue it’s the main reason why there is in fact no “European defense industry”, and it’s not just France. And since there is no way a single entity can set the direction, and for quite some time won’t be, I have little hope that that will change.

(On a more serious note: I was speaking more broadly, though, and meant the whole of UK’s political mess, not just defence.)

Watching the UK’s political development in the past few years was one of the saddest things for me as an European.
Like watching a friend hitting themselves in the face continuously (and not stopping) out of spite after someone told them “watch out so you won’t hit your face by accident there”.
