#WIPWednesday 😅Still writing up Mercy in the Abyss, it's a divine horror one-shot that started as panic prep. Went really well at the table. Regular updates on the original post linked below: #TTRPG #Horror #OneShot bsky.app/profile/simo...
Last week’s #DND session needed a quick one-shot.
I improvised a divine dissection in the Abyss.

The players didn’t know if they were saving an angel or finishing what the Red Wizards had started.

Writing it up as Mercy in the Abyss.

Like if you want to read more.

I’m trying out #HabitStacking from #AtomicHabits, linking a tiny new habit to something I already do.

Have you played with this idea?
How did you make it stick?

Would love to hear what worked for you.
Or do you have an alternative you recommend for #SelfImprovement let me know.

2025 was big: I started Grit and Resolve, rebuilt my website, and joined #Bluesky.
My first post asked:

"Hey ChatGPT, based on all the things we discussed and what you know about me, please imagine what my life would look like and draw me."

Here’s my 2026 update. ⬇️

Last nights #DND oneshot went well. The pregen characters were well received. I adapted Death-at-Sunset from Dragon Delves and ran it for 3rd Level Characters.
My version focussed around the players with a prophecy of the Dawn Callers, tasked with returning light to the Heartgrove Forest.

Just finished pregenning 6 characters for a #dnd one-shot for tomorrow.
It's given me a really good grounding in the 2024 rules, but my god these characters are pretty complex. Why did I make them level 3!?
It's taken me more time to make these characters than the game is going to run

The Rule of Cool is a gymnast on a tight rope, juggling knives. There are times when you've got to button it down, call the rule out and make sure everything is fair, but I'm sorry sir I am at that table to make it Epic (with a capital E), swing from that chandeliar for me!
Is the Rule of Cool... lazy? 😳

I ran a crazy #halloween session, it started full of games for the party to play but we knew one of our party had to leave and it needed to be epic.

I really need to crack on with making some maps for my setting.
Anybody got any recommendations on the best way to approach this?

I've been creating a tavern for my party to find on their journey.
It's on the back of a giant snail and called The Mystical Spiral Inn 😂

Oh! I've been working on a series of articles around this 😇

It's not just about stealth but how to fail forward when the dice don't behave themselves!

At some point in the last year or two, I stopped hiding my geek.
I used to downplay my #DND life like it was a guilty pleasure.
But this weekend, I walked into a shop, got asked what the tablet was for, and said:
“I’m a Dungeon Master. I need it to run my game.”

Ambulance. School holidays. Two boys, no plan.
I’m standing in the kitchen, holding a coffee I haven’t made yet, asking:
What do I do with this day?

Off to run my first #dnd session with my new setting, "the iridescent court." bit nervous! I hope the players like it!

I was just thinking about this yesterday:

Large Format
Letter is 8.5 x 11 inches used in US mainly.
A4 is 8.3 x 11.7 inches is more International

Small Format
Half Letter 5.5 x 8.5 inches
A5 is 5.8 x 8.3 inches

For Print at home rules could you create a format to fit these dimension?
Poll time! What’s your preferred #ttrpg format?
8.5 x 11 inch (Letter)
6.14 x 9.21 inch (Trade)
Something else?

We all love shiny math rocks. But when is the right time to roll them?

Any Artists out there interested in this opportunity?

#IndieCreators #TTRPG #SCIFI
We're looking to hire a freelance artist to create a series of four logos for different megacorps in our Shadows Over Sol (hard sci-fi / horror) #ttrpg. Think the Expanse meets Alien, with a dash of Cyberpunk mixed in.

Interested and have experience? Send us your portfolio!

You planned the scene.
The rogue rolled low.
Now what?

Not all failure is created equal, and embracing that can unlock better gameplay.

In this follow-up, I explore how failure feels at the table and how we can lean into it.

Such a great way to kick a campaign off! It can really help to get everybody on the same page and to establish the ground rules. Bonus points if you can slay the scheduling beast up front 💪
GM Tip: When planning a multi-session campaign, always run a Session 0, where the entire group builds characters together and discusses expectations. This way no one ends up blindsided by the tone or planned direction of the game.

I created and ran a #dnd one-shot the other week for my #ttrpg table and it really sparked my creativity.

The dice completely disrupted the story with constant missed rolls.

What do you do when the dice won't behave?

I posted my thoughts here:

This morning, the fog whispered a secret—
just a bright blur in the mist…
until I chose to share it.
The lens revealed it.
For me—and now, for you.
Have a wonderful day.
