Labour's response to the loss of Caerphilly is "more of the same, but faster." They've learned nothing.
At first Thomas-Symonds said that he did not like responding to anonymous quotes, but that he accepted voters felt “frustration about the pace of change”. When Justin Webb, the presenter, said that was exactly the point being made by the source who delivered the quote (associating “Starmerism” with change being too slow), Thomas-Symonds replied: I don’t accept the point that’s being put in that quote at all. I think politics is about what people face, the challenges they face in their everyday lives. We always knew coming into government in July 2024, I think it’s an inheritance that’s probably the worst since 1945, in terms of the economic backdrop and the state of our public services together. We knew it was going to take time. What the message that we’ve listened to on the doorsteps in Caerphilly is very much telling us is to really redouble our efforts on that delivery and making a difference in people’s everyday lives. And that’s exactly what we’re determined to do.

Merz is clearly desperate to preserve NATO based on what he said a couple of days ago.
During Sunday's interview Merz defended his coalition's historic decision to loosen the debt brake on defense spending - made possible by an unexpected U-turn by Merz's conservatives right after the election - and even went so far as to link it to NATO's survival. "We were essentially able to preserve NATO with our decision," he said. "I was at the NATO summit in The Hague June 24-25]. If we hadn't changed the constitution and we hadn't been willing to allow the Federal Republic of Germany to spend 3.5 percent on defense plus 1.5 percent on the necessary infrastructure, then NATO would probably have disintegrated that day. We prevented that."

Having trans friends or family is the biggest factor in supporting trans rights.

But literally knowing a single trans person hugely increases the likelihood of support. If your only experience of trans people is the UK press, that's not surprising.

Dumb, stupid, huge waste of time. Don't watch it, don't rent it, don't buy it, just trust me when I say it's a stupid movie. I don't think I've heard anyone online say it's a worth while watch and if they have they're also dumb. Only a simpleton would find this movie worth watching. If u have any self respect, don't watch it, find something better to do with your life please, I wish I had read more reviews before watching this. May the creators never make another movie again 🙏

I equivocated in the ballot box between voting Labour and voting Green, but in the end I opted to vote Labour. Then, I was deeply unimpressed with Streeting's transphobia My new MP's response reassured me to some extent, though the proof will be if she votes against the whip on this issue.
Let me begin by saying that I firmly believe that this debate deserves dignity, respect, and compassion, and too often in modern politics these values have been lost. Transgender and non-binary people face daily struggles for acceptance and tolerance, and it is up to us as elected officials to avoid divisive and insensitive rhetoric. With regard to the specific issue of puberty blockers, it is my view that their use should be guided by medical professionals rather than politicians. I also welcome plans for better research on trans healthcare so that we can ensure every trans person receives the very highest standards of care. More broadly, I unequivocally stand for the rights of transgender people and the wider LGBTQ+ community. Previously, I have hosted roundtables between LGBTQ+ charities and mental health organisations and I will continue to be a steadfast ally. Dr Allin-Khan
