I recommend roasted cauliflower steaks. Slice thickly and cover with harrisa and olive oil or something similar. I also roast the leaves, similarly spiced.

Putting Tolkien and Star Trek aside - your fundamental point that you can save yourself a lot of time in an RPG campaign by working outwards from a constrained premise is a solid one.
