A collapse!!!
Please spread this far and wide, as stories don't get much bigger than this. When the government blocks even the intelligence services from telling us we're heading for environmental catastrophe, you know we have a problem. A very big problem.
Thank you.

The UK government didn't want you to see this report on ecosystem collapse. I'm not surprised | George Monbiot
It took an FOI request to bring this national security assessment to light. For ‘doomsayers’ like us, it is the ultimate vindication, says Guardian columnist George Monbiot

An ecosystem collapse!!!
People have been trying to tell me for years that worrying about climate change is silly because I live in a first world country. These people have always been ignorant of the facts.

Global mean temperature 2025: 1.44 ± 0.13 °C above the 1850-1900 average, based on a synthesis of eight international datasets.

2025 was the second or third warmest year on record. 2024 remains the warmest.

That makes the past 3 years are the 3 warmest years on record.

Global Temperature Report for 2025 - Berkeley Earth
2025 was the 3rd warmest year on Earth since direct observations began, and recent warming appears to be moving faster than expected.

Ending the use of fossil fuels in the shortest time possible is what we have to do to protect the wellbeing of humanity
I'm sure this post about whether we need to leave fossil fuels in the ground from @hausfath.bsky.social will not ruffle any feathers!

I joke, of course. RIP his mentions.

Definitely worth a read!
In the era of affordability politics, making clean energy cheaper may be a more viable emissions mitigation strategy than making dirty energy more expensive. My latest over at The Climate Brink digs into the debate:

Excellent and easy to appreciate graphic
Carbon dioxide (CO₂) averaged about 426 ppm in November 2025

10 years ago November averaged about 400 ppm

Given what seems to be disappointing news from COP30 I can’t see the rate of temperature increase lowering any time soon
2025 is expected to conclude as the 3rd warmest year to have been directly measured.

This would place 2025 behind only the El Niño boosted record warmth in 2023 and 2024, and still modestly above the long-term trend.

Always amazed at global temperature ups and downs. We are relatively down at the moment but 2025 still on track for third place slot.

Here of course berkeleyearth.org/september-20...
September 2025 Temperature Update - Berkeley Earth
September 2025 was the 3rd warmest September on record, and 2025 is likely to become the third warmest year on record. A La Niña transition appears imminent.

Visit this website. It’s very educative.
Keeping an eye on our planet's recent temperature trend and variability (12-month running mean). Many of the temporary peaks and dips are related to upper ocean heat anomalies in the Pacific (like ENSO).
