Not a real doctor
@simonb.bsky.social
Lapsed-writer, ex-DJ, wants to be an academic again (is, in fact a real doctor) , old goth, larp designer, neurodiverse like light through a prism, poet before sunrise. Poster-child for burnout (Complex, Brooding, Challenging)
A photo taken at Conscience. It was a difficult larp for me to play but I learned so much from it. (There's pretty much a chapter on it in my thesis.) It contained one of the best and one of the worst scenes of my 40+ year larping career.

One of the scenography twists from Gothic was replacing some of the props with others when the players were not looking. Everything here is edible, including the worms!

We've cut the price of the the script book for Gothic to approx €22 (that is €10 off) until November 1st. In order to get a copy though you have to perform a strange ritual. This involves being signed in to DriveThruRPG AND setting the sinister sigil that shows adult content.

In parallel we are looking for locations in Scandinavia (ideally Sweden) that would work as a 360° representation of a detention centre. Somewhere with a bleak institutional vibe. I'm not sure if we can find anywhere like the Gaol in the UK though

details of props and scenography, and this one even has poetry, and recipies for the food we served for the original runs based on Regency-era dishes.

More than anything though, I kind of want to play this game; it looked pretty awesome.

One of the programme items at KP25 was a showing of the Documentary film 'Remember That Time' which was about grief but made use of the larp of the same name by @martinemonster.bsky.social - it was the first time many of the cast had seen it. I cried

This is concise compared to some legacy systems from the 80s. Our roots in TRPGs were very clearly on display

I have spent the weekend with the @avalonlarpstudio.bsky.social collective, doing creative things snd reconnecting with everyone. At one point we had to go out into the snow to track a strange animal. We think it is a fox footprint, but it was 10cm long at least

So what if Jane Austen was the leader of a Diabolic cult. Madder, Badder, and far more dangerous to know than Byron? Dark secrets hidden beneath a mask of manners.

The Quota ran in a disused prison outside of Leicester; as the location had actually been used as a refugee detention centre in its past it was horribly perfect. (Photo by Oliver Facey)
