Not a real doctor
@simonb.bsky.social
Lapsed-writer, ex-DJ, wants to be an academic again (is, in fact a real doctor) , old goth, larp designer, neurodiverse like light through a prism, poet before sunrise. Poster-child for burnout (Complex, Brooding, Challenging)
It looks like they have dialled back a little on the new T&Cs but I don't think it is by enough for me to re-activate my account. I should probably read it again after the coffee kicks in.

I can _type_, but my mouse game is not so good. Fingerless mittens sound amazing ... knucklewarmers ... better than the 'footless sock'

I have resorted to fingerless gloves and a battered top hat. It would be peak VictorianUrchinCore, but I have ruined the look with a Disney Tigger™ hot water bottle

My dream came true to a certain extent when I was invited to help redesign some of the larp. Sadly, I never got to ride a horse or visit the barbers. Small regrets in big places. Look at that backdrop!

Congratulations Dr Turner!!

Yep. Variations of Blood Bowl and Jugger have been a staple at fest-larps for as long as I can remember

Sometimes vicarious larping is totally a thing

I want to know more about the dystopian powers trying to enforce this decision

House of Craving started with a nap ... it does not end that way though

if €22 is too expensive, then you can get the PDF from the same site with a pay-what-you-want price.

(The link does not work unless you are signed in to DriveThruRPG and have enabled adult content; there are some adult themes in the game and we decided to publish responsibly)

I got to watch with with my friend, Emma, who has played one larp - Inside Hamlet - and some of the staging was weirdly reminiscent/triggering. She says playing the larp affected the way she teaches the text.

I don't think they explain exactly how it was done in the book, but the apples were roasted to make them soft and then scorched with a blowtorch. I think the spots that look like mould are caramalised sugar.

The worms are real (but edible)

(This response was funny in my head)

Until you get it right, Jaakko.

I am reminded that David Norris had a user extendable larp family tree project back in 2000, sadly it is no longer accessible. That sought to map where a larp took inspiration from another earlier game. It started off UK centric but spread into Europe and (I think) North America.

Less a taxonomy, more an extended family swimming in the same soup
