You wouldn’t happen to be a nuclear physicist, would you? I worked with a couple in med school. They have to be on hand when implanting brachytherapy seeds.

The only reason if he didn’t would be if he had some latent Force talent. He might not have Jedi training, but it would still make canonical sense.

“Never tell me the odds!”

But since they never made that canonical, HAN SHOT FIRST.

Good, I’m still trying to get a laserdisc player to work (I have the definitive trilogy).

I hoped that I was able to differentiate, but I was unclear when I was trying for concise posts. I apologize.

TBH, I wanted to be a physicist before I wanted to be a doctor.

Agreed. They are 2 different configurations. Yes, there is danger, but fossil fuel is also dangerous. Refineries can explode. Fuel vapors can reach the explosive limit.

I’m not arguing with the physics or engineering. What I am saying is that people freak out about radiation at any level, and many don’t discern the difference between background radiation and the lethal levels inside a working reactor or around a damaged one.

Fukushima was a disaster that ranked as high, or almost as high, as Chernobyl. But, fortunately, it was also contained before it could spread contamination.
December 5, 2025 at 9:21 PM
Actually, no. You open with a straw man fallacy. I do not speak of these incidents as if they happened on the same scale. Only that they are part of our history and a large part of why people are leery of nuclear power plants.

Yes, TMI was tame, and the worst of the radiation was contained.

That overestimates TACO’s mental and emotional maturity by 8 years.

It’s pretty high, but it’s currently overwhelmed. #carboncycle

Our global photosynthesis capacity only goes so far.

Miller seems less like Goebbels and more like Mengele, especially with what he did under the first TACO regime.

…been some promising work in trying to make a consistent reactor design with better fuel efficiency and more safety.

I also have high hopes for nuclear fusion, there’s been some breakthroughs with colliding plasma, and it doesn’t need tritium plasma (so, that extra neutron isn’t flying around).
December 5, 2025 at 4:42 AM
…start up as fast as we’d like. It can take 18-24 hours to bring a reactor to operational status, and that’s both due to safety and physics.

There’s also the problem of not only spent fuel, but spent parts. Neutron activation takes its toll on materials.

Not to say we should abandon it. There’s…
December 5, 2025 at 4:42 AM
Not necessarily the fearmongering from fossil fuel industries. We also have history. TMI was a near disaster.

Then there’s Chernobyl, which turned a reactor into a nuclear BBQ grill.

And Fukushima, which showed that even the best safety systems can be overwhelmed.

Also, nuclear plants don’t…

Yep. And since TACO crippled the USDA and CDC, the chickens are at increased risk.
December 5, 2025 at 4:34 AM
We also need to research plastics recovery and alternative sources. Some of the more resilient plastics are petroleum-based, and while we can make plant-based plastics (PLA), they may not have the physical properties needed for certain applications.

Except the Constitution specifies otherwise. Insurrectionists cannot hold office. Period.

You’re right, though, about hoping for a change in 2026. If we can get a congress that’s willing to ENFORCE the Constitution, TACO is done, as well as the current POTUS, Vladimir Putin.
