For the most part it's alright to use a form of machine learning AI to *help* with the tedious parts of game development. For example Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth used an automatic system to do the thousands of lip-syncing movements for sidequest characters

It's generative AI "slop" that's the problem

It'll also be "so commonplace in the future" that players want to enjoy games made with actual human creativity and care into their visuals, instead of products containing artificial generated slop.

....Is this a joke I'm not getting

(But I'll save it for Christmas, I'm already playing through a handful of games right now)

Also some of the platforming gets TOUGH

There's this tall tower section in the penultimate chapter, and although there are checkpoints, the navigation and parkour is quite tricky to figure out. But it's made slightly annoying because sometimes your character will leap away instead of grab in place

Sword Of The Sea deserved a LOAD of nominations at The Game Awards but sadly didn't get any, which is a huge shame. It's an absolutely spectacular, divine, wonderful 3D platformer from the Abzu+Pathless devs

It's in my Top 3 favourite games I played this year, next to Expedition 33 & Split Fiction

Alt: A small gameplay snippet of Sword Of The Sea. A human character surfs a hoverboard sword along a colourful river in an orange desert canyon.

You should definitely try The Pathless and Sword Of The Sea next! (Same art director + devs, but made years later)

They're phenomenal
