*moderate* means in the pocket of the banks and NYC real estate among other things. This is not good at all.
Menin, who represents the Upper East Side, said she had the support of at least 34 current and incoming City Council members, more than the 26 votes needed to become the Council’s speaker, considered the second most powerful job in city government.

If you're in NYC: "Body Vessel Clay" curated by Jareh Das is a gem, you should see it before it closes on Dec 6. There's some protocol (pre-register on the Ford Fdn website) but it's worth it.

In addition to Ladi Kwali there's Magdalene Odundo, Simone Leigh, Julia Phillips, Adebunmi Gbadebo et al…
Well this is lovely to see.

Ladi Kwali in the paper, thanks to @ruthmaclean.bsky.social's story on Jareh Das's long-running research and curation of "Body Vessel Clay," at the @fordfoundation.org to Dec 6.

Best Thanksgiving solutions I've encountered

- assorted immigrant hacks to make the turkey palatable

- a parallel buffet with all the home-country specialties alongside the traditional US spread

- a collection of premier cru and grand cru Burgundy (red and white) to wash it all down
Thanksgiving discourse always reminds me I didn't grow up in the US. Also the classic menu is terrible!

Amazing political document.

"Hey Steve, I agree with you that he will congratulate, he will say that Mr. Trump is a real peace man and so and so. That he will say."

"But here’s what I think would be amazing."

How did this get leaked? Who was snooping?
"Now, me to you, I know what it’s going to take to get a peace deal done: Donetsk and maybe a land swap somewhere."
-- Steve Witkoff, in his call to Putin aide Yuri Ushakov

Read the whole transcript of the Oct 14 call. It's amazing.

It’s especially ironic because the lecture is exactly about the ‘paralyzing cowardice’ of today’s elites.

About universities, corporations and media networks bending the knee to authoritarianism. /4

Ppl say the other place still has the juice for various news/global topics, etc. I took a look. Checked a topic that hasn't gotten much chat here — international, political, cultural.

Well, there's nothing there either. I did see a ton of fascism getting served up. Closed my temp account and left.
