Some weather wise Mourning Doves just chillin. For those with keen eyes or good imaginations a small flock of Dark-eyed Juncos flies up from the left near the end & there’s a Brown Creeper on the top RH suet block on the large White Oak. They prefer to feed from the bottom.

Winter Storm Fern blew in yesterday & covered AA County, Maryland with snow, sleet & ice making walking slippery. Despite wind chills in the teens this Eastern bluebird couple decided to freshen up & take things to the next level! #fern #birds🪶

MUST READ thread before Monday night's forecasted G4 / SEVERE geomagnetic storm. Auroras could be seen as far south as the U.S.-Mexico border at times. Widespread mid-latitude displays are possible. Here's what you need to know to have a successful aurora chase tonight! 🧵

Did you know a quarter of all known bee species haven’t been recorded since the 1990s?

Ringing recovery: a Rufous Hummingbird I ringed in Metchosin, British Columbia, on 22 June was found in Angell, Arizona, on 12 August. The 1773 km between encounters is potentially less than 30% of the distance it should’ve covered, having been killed by a cat. 🧪🌎 #birdringing

I unwillingly shut down the outdoor fountain for the season so relocated the camera near some birdbaths temporarily. I’ve learned from others a bit of habitat nearby makes a difference and the birds cooperated. Mourning Doves. 🕊️ #Maryland #birds🪶

A quick loop around Kinder Park in AA County, Maryland today to check out my Fall neighbors. It was warm, wet & overcast so viewing was challenging. Too lazy to do eBird however Merlin provided. Peepers were peepin & birds foraging + another 10 species that weren’t vocalizing. Six YBSA too! #birds 🪶

Hopefully people located her from the opposite side of the fountain in the top LH corner. She’s a Northern “Yellow-shafted” Flicker who caught my eye & heart. I noticed her out a different window while the wildlife cam was rolling. Bonus Weather Channel soundtrack too! 🙊 Maryland #birds

After many weeks of no American Robin’s a feisty flock arrived in AA County, Maryland this morning. We’re abnormally dry so the bubbling fountain calls them in. They’re feasting on the ripe Winterberry & Holly berries. There’s a special lady guest in this video so see if you can find her? #birds 🪶

The #FallBirdMigration continues in AA County, Maryland today with this feisty Black-and-white Warbler washing away her jet lag after a long flight. There’s a brief guest appearance by a Ruby-crowned Kinglet along with an American Goldfinch + unknown “little brown job” in the top left. #birds 🪶

Still learning the Ap but wanted to be sure the king of brush pile habitat and morning panoramas @drbrianpet.bsky.social received his shoutout. SE Arizona is truly an amazing spot for birds!
Mucho thanks to folks for encouraging me to create habitat including these & others I follow. Every bit of insight helps! #birds

My fountain has been invaded by Yellow-rumped “Myrtle” Warblers aka “Butter Butts” along with American Goldfinches today! I inserted some flat stones creating shallow water & was immediately rewarded with bathing birds. #Fallbirdmigration is truly a magic time in AA County, Maryland. #birds 🪶

First Fall migrant Hermit Thrush arrived at my fountain in Anne Arundel County, Maryland on 10/17/25. She is perfect and quite the tail pumping Diva! Thankful she is providing a lesson & proudly checking all the ID boxes in this clip. Hoping she stays the season as others have in the past. #birds 🪶

Visited #HawkMountainSanctuary in Kempton, PA today on the way back from a meeting to catch the Fall raptor migration. After a rainy morning, the front passed and the wind shifted from the North. Various raptors & vultures rode the thermals in close proximity . Truly a birds eye view! 👁️ #birds 🪶

I’ve been experimenting by augmenting my fountain with habitat. The branches added have created several close encounters during the #fallbirdmigration. Tonight’s star is one of two male Scarlet Tanagers plus a juvenile Northern Cardinal in Anne Arundel County, Maryland. #birds 🪶
