Jury trials could be scrapped except in most serious cases

It is a common grumble of @barristersecret.bsky.social that people leap to conclusions about sentencing without reference to the sentencing remarks. I would like to see the current (and limited) resurgence of local journalism include more informed court reporting, but that may be a vain hope.

My garden is on the left, my neighbour's is on the right. His was, until earlier this year, a lawn. His porch flooded last weekend for the first time ever. Mine didn't.
