472. A New Leaf (1971), directed by Elaine May, rewatch

Liked this even more on rewatch. Elaine May's acidic romantic comedy drapes the misogyny of its men in warm and fuzzy iconography and sweet, funny archetypes, leading to an ending that has few nice things to say about its leading man.

471. Tenet (2020), directed by Christopher Nolan, first time viewing

one of those movies where i vacillated wildly between "HOLY SHIT WHAT A DUMB MOVIE!!!" and "holy SHIT what a dumb movie" throughout

man the ending of erased torpedoed that story so hard

470. Ace in the Hole (1951), directed by Billy Wilder, rewatch

the only thing that has aged about this story is that it's about newspapers. now instead we have many more fun and exciting ways to distort the truth and profit from people's misery

Yeah like I have a tolerance for long movies, but you don't even need that here, every scene is just interesting and cool and fun and in such different ways so even that doesn't get tiring

469. Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (2006), directed by Quentin Tarantino, first time viewing

The Kill Bill movies are ones that I have not revisited in years so it was a lot of fun to see this in the intended format. 4.5 hours and every scene fuckin' HITS.

468. The Bikeriders (2023), directed by Jeff Nichols, first time viewing

I like this portrait of a motorcycle club that reflects the turbulent times of the late 1960s and early 1970s. The three leads are great, but Jodie Comer is especially good as a normal woman who gets attracted to this danger.

467. Headshot (2016), directed by Timo Tjahjanto and Kimo Stamboel, first time viewing

Good, hard-hitting action, but the plot gets in the way a bit too much for me.

as great a director as Quentin Tarantino is he also has a million shit opinions

466. Dolemite Is My Name (2019), directed by Craig Brewer, first time viewing

Biopics aren't typically for me, but Rudy Ray Moore is such an outrageous character that this feels more like Bowfinger than a typical biopic. Fun from start to finish, both Eddie Murphy and Wesley Snipes are great.

Pisses me off so much to see thousands laid off to save relative pennies on the dollar and then see this

465. Emily the Criminal (2022), directed by John Patton Ford, first time viewing

Solid crime thriller starring Aubrey Plaza as a food service worker in debt who joins a credit card fraud ring. I like that the movie doesn't feel the need to make you root for her and shows her with no moral judgment.

Yeah I didn't know this was a spinoff from Captain Underpants beforehand, and now I'm super interested in seeing that, too, if it's anywhere as good as this!

464. Dog Man (2025), directed by Peter Hastings, first time viewing

Definitely regretting not seeing this in theaters earlier this year. Irreverent, strange, and deeply silly in such a fun and hilarious. Hits that sweet spot of feeling like it came from a kid's mind but with thought and care.

463. Lisa Frankenstein (2024), directed by Zelda Williams, first time viewing

Kept going back and forth on this, but once it commits fully to the nastier, more macabre side of the story (but still with a twinge of dark romance) in the final third I was move into it.

December 3, 2025 at 7:44 PM
that's the thing that really struck me one day, that people really think that a small percentage of people (that they believe is much greater) abusing a system is an evil so great that the noose must be tightened for people who desperately need whatever accommodation is discussed

Kyoto is such a cool city to walk around in. It has such an interesting juxtaposition between modern and historical city throughout... I could literally cross the street in some areas and feel like I was in a different place entirely.

462. Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl (2024), directed by Nick Park and Merlin Crossingham, first time viewing

Fun story, lots of cute gags and laugh out loud moments, basically everything you would expect from a Wallace & Gromit cartoon. I love how creepy the gnomes are lol
