You seem like a reasonable person who can understand that reading a Gospel narrative with a very intentional anti-Jewish slant (gotta cozy up to those Roman audiences) and uncritically accepting that slant reinforces the bigotry in the text.

The point is that if the Gospels are your only point of reference for the Pharisees (or 1st-century Jews more broadly) you do not have the full picture.

Asking Jesus to be your "rabbi" while denigrating Jewish custom and ritual in the same breath is nothing short of appalling. Shame on you. Fix your heart.
