"And that's part of our trouble. Thinking things are inevitable. Not believing change is possible." — character, Lenore Dove, at the beginning of Suzanne Collins' novel Sunrise on the Reaping (Hunger Games prequel) & something @rebeccasolnit.bsky.social keeps reminding us. Change is possible.

Just finished Girl in the Creek by @wnwagner.bsky.social, just loved the setting (small town Oregon, Clackamas Wilderness) and characters (human and animal). Read some PNW PCT missing persons nonfiction this year and here's a speculative addition 💚🌲

View all comments

I've been doing low-key solar advocacy & education since I got my rooftop panels in 2022.

Despite the fascists, solar is barreling ahead, remaking the world, taking power from the people destroying it.

Solar curious? I'm happy to answer questions!

The solar revolution means that power can be decentralized, democratized, distributed far more justly. So it makes perfect and hideous sense, given the nostalgia of authoritarians for a golden age (of exclusion, exploitation, and inequality ), to tie themselves to all fossil fuel's problems.

I'm never so bold as to claim that the things I enjoy are objectively "the best," but Five Books asked me for a list of #solarpunk books I recommend, so I listed five I think more people should read.

All novels, too, instead of short stories! I also talk a bit about one of my own books. #booksky
