SAI 2 doesn't have a dark mode, nor does the developer have plans to add it right away (it's less of a priority), plus developing a dark UI in FireAlpaca was rather a costly move, last time I remembered.

Turning down screen brightness helps. Using apps that tone down the blue light also helps. Dark mode isn't the only option.

Also, also, I didn't get FireAlpaca SE because of dark mode. I got FireAlpaca SE because of LIQUIFY. This is coming from someone who has used dark mode for many years until recently because I realize dark mode does more damage to me.

It's almost 2026, guys. There's more options for software than it was in the 2010s.

I absolutely refuse to help these types of people. The commenters have already done so anyways, but I'm not willing to chime in. I feel like they aren't the type that isn't going to listen anyways.

What is the point of that? Just use a software that has that already. There's literally no need to make a post that will make you look stupid later on.

Not to mention... FA SE v4 is going to have bristle brushes and animation timeline possibly... 👀

Maybe I can learn many things working in v3. I'm curious if it's possible to make a SAI-like watercolor brush in FireAlpaca SE 3 with its new brush engine.
December 5, 2025 at 4:21 PM
I could even use the free version of FireAlpaca for v2, and work there if I want to use v2 without having to switch from v3.
December 5, 2025 at 4:21 PM
With that being said, if it's becomes too buggy or unstable, I will revert back to v2 and supplement it with other software. There are a few inconveniences, but not enough for me to switch back to v2.

I'm still working on a video for brush speeds, but it might be a while before it gets released, as I'm going to be working on other things in the meantime.

This is only for raster software, so I didn't want to include 3D or vector software.

Though they're free to surprise me at any given time by releasing them sometime in v5, but I'm not holding my breath.

Of course, this might be slower or faster depending on if you have multiple settings on. I only had custom brush tip, small texture, and some pen pressure settings enabled.

But I digress. Well done, Clip Studio Paint. This may or may not be something people are looking for, but it's a clever work around for a better painting experience. Kudos.

Overall, I am pleasantly surprised that they actually managed to address this FINALLY. However, I felt like this would have benefited back in the V2 update along with their perpetual color mixing.
