However, incredibly, Tolkien turned down an approach from The Beatles management to make a movie of The Lord of The Rings around '66-'67 after Help. He was decidedly unhappy at the prospect of a "pop" group making a film of his book!

They never met. Tolkien was apparently not a fan of The Beatles - based on his letters where he writes of neighbours; "a group of young men who are evidently aiming to turn themselves into a Beatle Group. On days when it falls to his turn to have a practice session the noise is indescribable."
