Nasa would approve of the correction. And probably would’ve recommended it to Hata himself. While Tsukasa stood to the side with a smug “my husband is so cool” look on her face.

I like to call it “so-ing discord“.

Sounds like this is a dispute over this principle.

I’m sympathetic to both “Look, even though I hate Likud…” and “I shouldn’t have to say that I hate Likud.” They’re not contradictory.

Normally this is the point in the thread where I justify my existence by telling you that I hate this Israeli government, that I think war crimes definitely happened in Gaza, that I want self determination for the Palestinians, etc.

But you know what? I shouldn’t have to do that.

If I had to say what he values, I’d go with “domination“. I’m not sure there’s anything else.

(You could say “victory”, but I think he sees that as a subset.)

Hatred always demands more. The ratchet only goes one way.

Nessa kinda CAN’T be played by a paraplegic actress in the play, because of the scene where Elphaba enchants the shoes to let her walk (turning them ruby)… which IIRC leads Boq to decide he can leave her now. Which she takes badly — I think she grabs the grimoire and accidentally removes his heart?

I haven’t seen For Good, but I take it the “Wicked Witch of the East” sequence plays out differently from the play?

This essay from the weeks after 9/11 remains evergreen: www.alternet.org/2001/10/why_...
Why the Bombings Mean That We Must Support My Politics
Many people will use this terrible tragedy as an excuse to put through a political agenda other than my own. To those I say, "Shame on you!"

Just read about it.

I predict this will change very few minds, and those whose moral axiom is “hatred and outrage must exclusively and unceasingly be directed at THIS group” will continue to believe it.

What’s your source for the ranking? The numbers my Googling is turning up show HoK near the top, but while CCS is in the top 10, there’s others above it. And Genshin seems to have dropped a ways — looks like it’s not even the top Hoyoverse game anymore?

Also I’ve been listening to the History of China podcast and I’ve lost track of how many times people have straight-up CONQUERED China only to… become Chinese.

I’d like to think whatever’s valued of “the West” is at least as resilient.

National under-five mortality rates in 2020 ranged from about 11% to under 0.2%.

I can barely conceive of a world where HALF of all people die in childhood, and as recently as a couple centuries ago, that was just… normal. Everywhere.

Wasn’t it the Japanese side that pushed for the name changes in Detective Conan too? Though I don’t know if it was Aoyama himself, or Shogakukan, or what.

I think I remember learning that "The Rape of the Lock" was part of that development?

Why am I not surprised to see the hatred of anti-Zionists drift into the old Jesus-tantrum-in-the-Temple Discourse?

It doesn’t really help understanding when foreign commentators dismiss the threat of 10/7-scale events, or thousands of people in the north having to evacuate their homes, or generations of children in Sderot and Ashkelon growing up with PTSD, or Iran launching massive ballistic missile attacks.

Even if Israel has the most sophisticated weaponry and economy, they don’t have strategic depth, and war still produces an enormous strain on them.

They’ll be even more vulnerable when the West Bank occupation ends (as it one day must), which is part of why unilaterally withdrawing is a no-go.
