Read @johnlorinc.bsky.social on why the store thing is bound to fail because it’s watered down to a Potemkin change in how Toronto operates.

Scenes from today’s field trip to North York. The model in NY civic centre is always fun to visit, analogue to the big one downtown. We talked big dangerously roads, new city vs older, square design, tiny vs big stores, old section 37 & % for public art & ethnoburbs.

Who speaks for a neighbourhood? Who gets listened to? All you have to do is show the illusion of organization. And who wants to fight people w endless energy to do so?

ON THIS DAY in 2012 I saw the late mayor Rob Ford randomly gladhanding in Humbertown Plaza. Was he putting ford nation magnets on cars? I can’t recall. This was at the peak of his rob fordness. Wild life.

3 jackknifed semis west of mtl. The first right at Ontario border & Doug’s open for bidness sign. An early snow takes everyone by surprise. Substantial snow done by Prescott.

Snowy walk from visiting Mile End friends to the Japanese-style covered street of St Hubert. Recently renovated from the 40+ year old slanted glass breezeways. See old street view. Seems quite contemporary again after looking quite dated. Found an open restaurant 🍔 Long live real cities.
