I have been pushing OC Transpo to adopt a youth pass, for free transit for 18 and under and compliment the existing U-Pass in Ottawa. A big step in that direction today is before transit commission with free service after 5pm, on weekends and holidays for 18-under. Would love to see summers added.

This underscores the importance of collaboration in decision-making at city hall. The existing safe, structurally sound, and higher capacity facilities could have been used for much longer until a better plan, and one that was publicly supported, could be implemented.

One of the strategic failures of #OttCity Road Safety Action Plan is the lack of communications about where speed camera revenues are spent.

I got the list via #ATIP. Here are some projects that were only made possible because of these revenues. Full data at tinyurl.com/4brrmh9j

I’m happy to say that we worked with the city and OC transpo to install two new bus stops on Main St at Centennial. They are temporary now and permanent next spring. This cuts walking distance significantly and better connects up with the General Hospital. #Ottawa #Ottcity

Lansdowne 2.0 doesn’t give Ottawa what it needs. The plan is built around the limits of a public-private deal that leaves the city with hundreds of millions in new debt for a project that won’t serve residents well.

The Auditor General recently released her second sprint audit for Lansdowne 2.0. The risks are very concerning and if realized will lead to tens of millions more in costs for the city of #Ottawa.

Ottawa City Council has just received 2 letters on Lansdowne 2.0:

1) The Ottawa Disability Coalition wants funds instead invested in affordable housing.
2) The local Building Trades Council is furious that jobs will not be selected locally.

New Polling Results on Lansdowne 2.0 from Nik Nanos. The more people know about the plan, the more they don’t like it. Most believe it won’t stay on budget, would prefer repairs to existing, oppose the loss of greenspace and arena capacity and extra debt.

The existing capacity at Lansdowne Park has accommodated the Charge, a Brier, World Juniors and large draw concerts. Using the valuable facilities we have until a publicly supported plan can be developed, would be wise. ottawacitizen.com/news/pwhl-lans…

NEW- We’ve discovered 7 concerning issues with the new information on Lansdowne 2.0 released by the city just one week ago-

1) $17.4 million per year (not $4.3 million) is being carved out of Ottawa’s Budget until 2070 to pay for Lansdowne 2.0 debt ($696 million in payments).

Here’s a secret the city doesn’t really want you to know about - they have already taken out over $300 million in debt authority for Lansdowne 2.0 before the project is approved by Council.
