Are you saying they were International Bright Young Things?

Road tax is £195 for EVs registered since 2017. There's a climate emergency and discouraging people from ditching their polluting fossil fuel vehicles is the wrong decision

They're not dead, they're just resting

Pollution absolutely is the biggest health issue. Climate change is going to kill more people than road vehicles ever has.
November 26, 2025 at 9:07 PM
The biggest climate impact an individual can have is to switch to public transport. Sadly for most places that's impossible. The next biggest is switching to an EV, and the government are doing all they can to disincentivise that for a tiny amount of tax

Fuel duty has effectively halved since 2009 due to the effects of inflation. If my back of an envelope maths are correct, with the escalator, it should be about £4 per litre now

Have you tried asking chatgpt?

I'm certainly not arguing that a popular vote would produce the right result, but even contemporaneous lists ranked it highly.
November 26, 2025 at 8:06 PM
I think that's probably a minority opinion; it wouldn't be my favourite, but ever since it was released it's appeared regularly in best of lists for the year, the decade, the century and even all time.

Pixies - Doolittle - Review - 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die
The featured classic album is “Doolittle” by Pixies (4AD, 1989) – “off-kilter dynamism, straddling pop’s melodies with punk’s energy”

The retrospective changing of VED makes it a double whammy though

Maybe EV drivers are seen as woke virtue signallers, unlike decent fossil fuel burning polluters
November 26, 2025 at 6:59 PM
They set the EV tax at half the rate of fuel duty, approximately, so 6p per mile
November 26, 2025 at 6:40 PM
This seems thought through
November 26, 2025 at 6:36 PM
I don't think anyone's getting 30 miles per litre of petrol - that's like 135mpg
November 26, 2025 at 4:51 PM
I've paid fuel duty for decades. When do the public transport improvements arrive?
November 26, 2025 at 4:16 PM
Most people will charge at home, because public chargers mean you're paying more than petrol.

And it's a charge per mile, not per kwh
November 26, 2025 at 4:13 PM
Yes. Fewer people switching. More pollution.
