concept art & character reference for balut. balut is a fleshy looking, almost alien humanoid with a variety of mobility aids to support his unusual bodily structure. he is wearing a pressurized suit as well as back & joint braces. main text reads: "balut, the slippery egg, or little polyp. found mutilated and stuck in a vent filter near angel’s work pod. a lab-grown brain grown in a temporary gestational ‘body’ with the intention of transplanting onto a lightweight military bio-ship capable of light speed bursts and human processing speeds for the perfect weapon. a carefully calibrated superintelligence with straightforward desires. with angel’s biotechnological expertise, his growth is carefully monitored and engineered to recreate a semblance of a human body. balut is a manufactured bioweapon with vestigial traits of humanity that angel helps nurture, both physically and mentally. with time, balut comes to love angel, and in that love, desires to help her achieve her dream."

concept sheet for angel, the main protagonist of capture myopathy. the main text reads "angel is the son of mother, birthed before her transformation. after becoming a wayfare ship, mother could not carry on her parental duties, and angel was placed under the guardianship of the corporation that owns his mother, with a portion of her profits set aside for his care. angel, gifted a certain amount of agency from her mother’s sacrifice, decides instead to train and work as a vessel technician so that she can work to maintain and stay close to her mother. she has recently found purpose in taking care of balut and making his body viable." there's 4 drawings of angel, who is a stocky asian engineer in an angler bib and a construction harness, as well as a nasal cannula to help him breathe.
