Postdoc at Cornell Lab of Ornithology using radar to study offshore bird migration with the BirdCast Team
My last trip to the Cornell Lab of Ornithology as a postdoc 😭 I will truly miss this place! I have the best boss and colleagues and grateful for my 2+ years of growing professionally and personally. Not sure what happens next but forever grateful for this experience ❤️

Last year I had the opportunity to try a Zeiss DTI 4/50 thermal imaging camera to study nocturnal bird migration. It was awesome! I have hours of footage - can anyone recommend ways I can enhance the videos or darken the background? Also, note the ✈️ taking off from JFK 🤣

FINALLY got back to Freshkills Park yesterday, and the birding was incredible! Here’s a very photogenic Yellow-billed Cuckoo and a less photogenic Red-headed Woodpecker (only my 3rd for Staten Island)

A flock of budgies is not what I had on my backyard bird migration bingo card… currently have FOUR parakeets visiting my bird feeder… been trying to catch all day…

Me waiting for the birds to discover that the bird feeder is back out for the season…
