Reminds me of one of my favourite songs by The Weakerthans: "Plea From A Cat Named Virtute". It's mostly for folks with a melancholy streak and a pet cat. So, you know, pretty niche.

Laminations beautiful enough to write lamentations for.

I should clarify that "a good amount of money" includes, to me, a few hundred dollars so that our front porch has a railing for using the stairs. I haven't put one in in the nearly 6 years I've lived here. Pretty deeply ashamed of that, but never trying hard enough to fix it.

I no longer feel any connection to projects I find interesting but that I know will cost a good amount of money. I can't blame it entirely on how little we have left over after paying all our expenses, but... we really don't have much. And I'm failing to use any of it well.

Enacting one's will results in progress: Are Democrats rewriting the playbook?

My fantasy team seems to think there are snacks hidden under the seats marked "IL", how do I get control of the narrative here?

Sorry, haven't got a clue about that. But the interactions on this post were nicely symmetrical when I read it. Of course, my sharing this with you will render that fact obsolete. Such is life.

As long as there's enough room to convert it to an arena, where working-class Americans will battle to the death for healthcare credits (redeemable for elective surgeries only)

Crazy to think that dude might earnestly miss the days when he was sitting in some conference room, barely paying attention to what was being said, but with the soothing background of construction noises. Couldn't they have gotten him a white noise machine?

I don't see why nothing I've said is germane, but I don't need to keep wasting everybody's time, so I appreciate the note and I'm walking away. We're on the same side and it sure doesn't feel like it.

I don't blame anybody for withholding their acceptance of that guy. Nor do I blame anybody for granting it. In either case, believe folks when they say how they feel.

Alright, I'll get the fuck out with saying people vote for things, not against un-things. My bad.

The bar should INCLUDE not having that tattoo, but certainly that alone doesn't qualify somebody. That's all I'm saying.

The focus should be on what makes those candidates better suited for the job, and I think it is better to put those qualities in the foreground. "Not having a Nazi tattoo" is of course a good thing, but I'm always leery of negative space when positive statements feel stronger.
October 22, 2025 at 3:29 PM
I get what you mean. Sorry if I'm not being clear on that. If there's a better candidate who's more likely to win power for the party that doesn't want to undo its own country, then put them in there. If he isn't on the side of progress, ditch him.

Very true. But we would expect the bedsheets to be tossed out in the process of leaving that membership, wouldn't we?
October 22, 2025 at 3:10 PM
I think there is room in this world for the procedure of having a tattoo removed to provide metaphorical meaning.

It isn't often I can distinctly remember having one of these foods as a kid, but I remember these!
