NOISES OFF has fallen a bit into obscurity, and it absolutely rips. Brilliant cast. Cracking dialogue. And Bogdanovich at the height of his powers.

Actress Alexandra Billings just outed herself as a die-hard fan of AI slop.

She posted an AI thing and people went into her comments to say "what the fuck this is AI" and she is gleefully responding to every single one of them with how much she loves AI slop.

Saw HARD BOILED for the first time. On a cinema no less!

Gnarly print, dogshit translation in the subs. 15/10 No notes.

The fact that we didn't have any proper 25th Anniversary celebration of this masterpiece is criminal.

Harris absolutely nails what has grated me about this style of movie/show for a while with the phrase "meme-forward performamces."

The point where awareness of the memes started influencing the writing which tried to force memes, then the whole thing turns to flaccid social media fodder.

Oh wait, we can measure Hitman's success...
November 16, 2025 at 1:16 AM
Lol, even the streaming one was a hit.

3 outta 4 movies led by Powell being massive successes is not what anyone would reasonably call "flop after flop"
November 16, 2025 at 1:12 AM
Box Office punditry is such a brain-dead exercise in fabricating narratives that don't exist (before Running Man 2 of the 3 Powell-led films were huge hits and we can't really measure Hitman's success).

Why does anyone who isn't a studio accountant give a flying fuck about box office?

"Great experimental film, but I prefer narrative cinema" is a valid critique.

"Exhausting and cyclical" is bad critique cause that's LITERALLY WHAT'S BEING DESIGNED.
November 16, 2025 at 12:36 AM
The negative reactions to DIE, MY LOVE all seem to be "this was an experimental film and I want narrative and therefore it's bad" which is insane.

That's like going to a Metallica concert and complaining about the lack of Enya. You don't criticise Picasso for his "bad proportions".

The film rules.

I keep seeing batshit takes about Del Toro's Frankenstein like this and it drives me insane.

This is like finishing Shrek and getting mad because you think the theme is "Physical beauty is the most important thing in the world"

In the Please Don't Destroy movie. There's flashbacks done via photos and it's horrifically bad AI.
