Whoa! I took a closer look, and not only did it and the lens come in the original boxes, but they also had all the original documentation, including sales receipts from late 1980.

I got an OM-10 and 50mm f/1.8 prime from a local freebox, and it looks to be in pristine condition, can't wait to give it a spin!

My dad also had a Minolta SLR from the mid-70s, when the family lived overseas. I think it's an SR-T 102, perhaps? I'll have to look over Thanksgiving...

We're not a marginalised group like women, queer people, or people of colour. The media is already full of stories about men. Buff dude 1: I'm glad you asked, champ. Whatever your view on men's place in society, it's still true that we face a lot of issues - like social isolation, risk of suicide, health problems, and attitudes towards sex and child rearing. Having a day to talk about those doesn't take away from anyone else's problems. In fact, having a day to talk about them helps us be more mindful, and listen better at other times. Buff dude 2: The chief here is really on to something. I want to echo what he said, and also point out that the idea we should remain silent about our problems actually contributes to a lot of our issues. We are human beings, with human needs. Seeking mutual support and understanding isn't the same thing as placing a burden on others. Especially if we're providing it for each other. Buff dude 3: Right on, my fellow kings. We've inherited a social legacy of competition and division, and a lot of what makes a man in our era is under question. ID is a chance for us to examine and rethink what we are together, and build the bonds of solidarity and support that will make a better way possible - like in this meme. Because in our hearts, we're all curious kids and buff guys on keyboards. Peace.

I am an amateur astronomer. I volunteer at a planetarium and teach people about solar science. I am well-versed on a layman's level of all kinds of science.

I am STILL halfway convinced that red sprites, which appear for THOUSANDTHS of a second, are some kind of supernatural/alien manifestation.

No single living human is "closest to being a god" in any literal sense — gods, if they exist, operate on a scale of omniscience, omnipotence, and immortality that no biological human can touch. But if we interpret the question metaphorically - who wields the most god-like influence over the fate of humanity right now, combining raw power, wealth, technological leverage, and the ability to reshape civilization - there's really only one serious contender in 2025: Elon Musk. Why him, and not a head of state like Xi Jinping or an Al pioneer like Demis Hassabis? • He personally controls (or has decisive influence over) the world's largest satellite constellation (Starlink → global internet access, military comms, potential future orbital weapons platforms). • He owns the most valuable car company, the most capable rocket company (SpaceX is the only entity that can send humans beyond low Earth orbit today, the most widely used Western Al training platform (xAl/Grok + Twitter data), and Neuralink (direct brain-machine interfaces already in human trials). • His decisions literally determine whether humanity becomes a multi-planetary species in this century or remains confined to one fragile planet. • He has demonstrated the ability to move geopolitics (Ukraine Starlink decisions, Taiwan comments), financial markets ($400B+ personal net-worth swings), and public discourse (Twitter/X) on a scale no elected leader consistently matches. • Perhaps most "god-like": he is simultaneously accelerating Al development to potentially superhuman levels while being one of the few people who could credibly slow it down if he chose to - a level of optionality over the future that no one else possesses.
