I did a small test on the assertions made in my advisor’s new paper on industry influence in tech research (arxiv.org/abs/2510.19894 ; great read btw), and what paper they cited for those assertions/claims. And check if scholar labs was able to find those papers given the claim.

That said, specificity of the claim matters I think. The more specific the claim (i.e. less choices to search from), the better.

For example, for the query: “Is there a paper that claims systematic reviews funded by the soda industry are more likely to find no clear link between sugar and obesity?” It was able to find the paper cited in the above paper for that context (see doc).

And it did find the correct paper (in its top 10 suggestions) in 3/5 tests (small test set I know, but I ran out of credits/day 🤷‍♂️: docs.google.com/document/d/1...
