It's amazing how often on BlueSky a polite fact check, with a mainstream source to back it up, results in an immediate block. Blocking objective facts is sad.
I gotta go to bed. It's been a nice conversation. Have a happy Thanksgiving. 😀

In this case Grosskreutz was still moving and still holding his pistol. If shooting him the 1st time was justified, shooting him again in that circumstance (until he drops the gun) is also justified.
November 27, 2025 at 2:30 PM
Correct, Rittenhouse wasn't protesting or counter protesting. His stated reason for being there was to protect Car Source & provide 1st aid. There are hours of video of him standing at Car Source and at least one video of him providing 1st aid to a protestor with an injured ankle at Car Source.

Eight shots, six hits, no innocent bystanders hit, stopped shooting as soon as each threat ends, at night, under high stress, is also very good gun control. After Grosskreutz was shot, he still had his pistol in his hand. Most police officers would have kept shooting until he dropped it.

You said, "has a weapon he seemingly intends to use." Running past dozens of people without shooting them doesn't sound like he intends to use it. Seems like it means he's trying to get away from an angry mob and get to the police (clearly visible with all their lights on two blocks away).

One of the key parts of being an "active shooter" is that you're actively shooting as many people as possible. It isn't shooting a guy attacking you as you try to flee from them & then fleeing towards the police, passing dozens of people, shooting no one.

He was provided first aid training by the police department where was a cadet, and the fire department where he was a cadet. He wasn't performing heart surgery. His training was sufficient for what he was doing. BTW - I never said it was a smart idea for him to have been there. It was stupid IMO.

It's the normal way you carry a rifle or shotgun. It's nearly impossible to conceal a long gun, so anyone can see you have it and whether you're holding it or have it slung over your shoulder you're just as much "showing it off."
November 27, 2025 at 2:07 PM
A) Rittenhouse wasn't at this incident
B) Most of these guys have their rifles slung over their shoulders. The super skinny guy in the black shirt is borderline brandishing.
November 27, 2025 at 2:05 PM
I bring it up as a possible motive, he mistook Rittenhouse for the guy in the green shirt at this earlier altercation.
November 27, 2025 at 2:03 PM
Rittenhouse was running past dozens of people, pointing his gun at no one, and shooting no one. If he was an "active shooter" he would have been shooting some/all of those people. That's in the definition of "active shooter."

It wasn't a wise move to go to Car Source 3 alone. He put himself in a situation that he then tried to extricate himself from by running away but got cornered. If all he wanted to do was "use his big fancy toy" he could have not run & just stood there & shoot Rosenbaum instead of 1st trying to flee.
November 27, 2025 at 2:00 PM
I didn't have it, though I was in high school a very long time ago. Before responding I'd checked with a couple of AIs and was told this isn't common training for students. About 14% according to Google AI.
November 27, 2025 at 1:57 PM
What do you think he was doing other than just carrying it? BTW - he was carrying it in what is referred to as the "low ready" position, barrel pointed towards the ground & finger off the trigger. This is the normal/standard way to carry a long gun.
November 27, 2025 at 1:54 PM
Rosenbaum was very upset that his burning dumpster was extinguished.
November 27, 2025 at 1:53 PM
We can only theorize why Rosenbaum attacked him. I think the most likely reason is he mistook Rittenhouse for someone he'd confronted earlier. Rosenbaum had been pushing a burning dumpster by the Ultimate and the men with rifles there put it out. One was dressed very close to Rittenhouse.

Legally, if you're chasing someone, you're the aggressor. If you're afraid of someone, and they're running away, you just let them run away (particularly when they're running directly towards the police and told you they were running to the police).
November 27, 2025 at 1:50 PM
He wandered off to put out a fire. If you want to call that "drama" 🤷‍♂️

Like I said before, the smarter move would have been to find the other members of his group at the Ultimate gas station and all go together (or not go at all).

Most students learn CPR, not first aid, and definitely not "stop the bleed" training (this is for major life-threatening bleeding, pressure bandages & tourniquets).
November 27, 2025 at 1:46 PM
There is, and there's a legal definition of it. Open carrying, in an open carry state, doesn't fit that definition.
November 27, 2025 at 1:43 PM
Everyone with a long gun was open carrying (kind of hard to conceal). Rittenhouse was running because a car was on fire. Here's the car being lit on fire. www.youtube.com/watch?v=SfwU...

Running up to a burning car with a fire extinguisher isn't "confronting people." As he jogs up he's shouting "friendly friendly friendly."

Here's some threats by Rosenbaum described by Joann Fiedler.
November 27, 2025 at 1:38 PM
The way to not get shot is to not threaten to kill someone if you find them alone, then find them alone & chase them. Here's some testimony about the threats, first from Ryan Balch.

Grosskreutz was livestreaming, and that interaction was recorded on the livestream. Grosskreutz hadn't seen the first shooting. He had no idea what had happened, other than what an angry mob was yelling. /n
