It's amazing how often on BlueSky a polite fact check, with a mainstream source to back it up, results in an immediate block. Blocking objective facts is sad.
Eight shots, six hits, no innocent bystanders hit, stopped shooting as soon as each threat ends, at night, under high stress, is also very good gun control. After Grosskreutz was shot, he still had his pistol in his hand. Most police officers would have kept shooting until he dropped it.

Rittenhouse was running past dozens of people, pointing his gun at no one, and shooting no one. If he was an "active shooter" he would have been shooting some/all of those people. That's in the definition of "active shooter."

I didn't have it, though I was in high school a very long time ago. Before responding I'd checked with a couple of AIs and was told this isn't common training for students. About 14% according to Google AI.

Rosenbaum was very upset that his burning dumpster was extinguished.
November 27, 2025 at 1:53 PM
We can only theorize why Rosenbaum attacked him. I think the most likely reason is he mistook Rittenhouse for someone he'd confronted earlier. Rosenbaum had been pushing a burning dumpster by the Ultimate and the men with rifles there put it out. One was dressed very close to Rittenhouse.

There is, and there's a legal definition of it. Open carrying, in an open carry state, doesn't fit that definition.

Here's some threats by Rosenbaum described by Joann Fiedler.

The way to not get shot is to not threaten to kill someone if you find them alone, then find them alone & chase them. Here's some testimony about the threats, first from Ryan Balch.
November 27, 2025 at 1:38 PM
He was with members of his group at the Ultimate gas station & got separated from them. One of the people at Car Source 2 called him and told him they were burning cars at Car Source 3, so he found a fire extinguisher and ran to CS3. The wiser move would have been to wait until he others to go with.
November 27, 2025 at 1:33 PM
The police testified that more than half the people they encountered that night were armed. It isn't legal to attack someone for merely open carrying a gun in an open carry state.
November 27, 2025 at 1:28 PM
Rittenhouse did shoot him, once he was cornered and could no longer flee. The medical examiner testified, based on the soot stippling on Rosenbaum, that his hand was on Rittenhouse's gun or within inches. You're under no obligation to get into a tug-of-war over your gun with the guy who threatened U

The 2nd man with a pistol, Gaige Grosskreutz, was chasing Rittenhouse. Legally, that makes him the aggressor, not the defender. He admitted on the stand that he wasn't shot until he pointed his pistol at Rittenhouse.
November 27, 2025 at 1:20 PM
The 1st man with the pistol, Joshua Ziminski, wasn't fired at. Rosenbaum was justifiably shot because he'd threatened earlier to kill Rittenhouse if he found him alone, then found him alone, chased him, cornered him & tried to grab his gun (to presumably carry out the earlier death threat).
November 27, 2025 at 1:18 PM
At the shooting of Rosenbaum, Rittenhouse was running up to a burning car with a fire extinguisher. Rosenbaum came running up behind him. This was undisputed testimony at trial and clearly shown on the videos. He ran until he was cornered. That isn't "pretending."
November 27, 2025 at 1:04 PM
No video showed and no witness testified he was "running around threatening to kill people." He never even pointed his gun at anyone until Rosenbaum attacked him. Multiple witnesses, including one of the people he shot (Grosskreutz), said he avoided confrontation.

I support the facts, not myths.

They're all readily available online. Here's an explainer from PBS. www.pbs.org/newshour/nat...

But he was allowed to. Sometimes, like this time, the AI is wrong. This was adjudicated during the trial. Here's the statute they'd charged him under. Section 3C provides an exception for 16 & older to open carry long guns without supervision. I'll also include a decision tree explaining it.

It's gray. In California you typically can't resist arrest, even if that arrest is unlawful (People v. Curtis 1969). The pointed gun possibly makes things different. You don't have to let yourself get shot. DHS says he isn't ICE Enforcement, but they've been vague on his actual job title.
November 26, 2025 at 6:53 PM
How did he know he was being videotaped?

I guess you think he's some mad genius who planned the whole thing out. Strange, if he wanted an excuse to shoot someone, you'd think he would have tried to start an altercation. Instead, he did the opposite according to all the testimony.
November 26, 2025 at 5:11 AM
That "lie" is literally Grosskreutz' sworn testimony. By "what I saw on the video" I assume you're talking about the shootings. What specific part did you see that led you to believe it wasn't self-defense? Here's some video as a reminder.
November 26, 2025 at 4:13 AM
I have an educated guess.
November 26, 2025 at 4:11 AM
He was then bashed over the head with a 10lb skateboard. A baseball bat weighs about 2lbs. Would a BB bat to the head be a deadly threat? He then had a gun pointed at him. Pretty sure the gun counts as a deadly threat. Even Grosskreutz said Rittenhouse didn't shoot until he pointed his gun.
November 26, 2025 at 4:03 AM
There is nothing about "assault weapon" in the Wisconsin possession of a dangerous weapon statute. The statute does allow 16-17-year-olds to open carry long guns (rifles & shotguns). The section with the exception is 3C. Here's the law, and decision tree explaining it.
November 26, 2025 at 3:58 AM
He was acquitted by a jury (drawn from a 50/50 Dem/Rep county) not the judge. The protest were during the day. At night they were rioters. A white guy killing white guys isn't racially motivated, it was "you're attacking me" motivated. He was old enough for that gun that DIDN'T cross state lines.
November 26, 2025 at 1:40 AM
I would expect more from a veteran journalist than, "Zimmerman stalked and executed 17-year-old Trayvon Martin." I would expect you'd actually paid attention to the trial. He had lost sight of Martin, was returning to his car & got attacked in what a witness described as a "ground & pound."
