Or … look away to breathe if you were taking too long? Anyway, the wind might turn the pages for you. Or a cow or horse, reading over your shoulder.

Yeah, that’s the one.

Nice

yeah, that'd be fun. and, remember on the first gen of kindles, they'd read the text to you in robo-voice? but you could turn that all the way down and then the pages would turn automatically. it was very cool. this is back when the kindles had button-keyboards, and broke when you dropped them.

that her name? she had that big flag of a thumb. I forget which novel, even. his all kind of mix together. which: that's not any kind of insult. they're a blast to read.

that's cool. years back, someone making e-readers came to me, asked what would make them better, as I was using them from the get-go. my answer: put a page-turner on there that's breath/blowing activated. in retrospect, I see a variety of issues, here. there's a reason I write novels, I mean.

maybe my right thumb is, unreallybeknownst to me, just super strong now, from my big font? could be I'm an extra-special good hitchhiker, like whatever her name is in that one Tom Robbins novel (real specific, I know, but I'm in the green room for something, am supposed to be there-not-here)

didn't even know it went down that low. I mean, for a mouse to read it, they'd have to one-eye it, yes? and sort of rub the side of their face right against the screen, get the tactile sensation of the shape of the letters in that nubbly e-ink? I'll stick with my Fisher-Price font.

guessing yours is . . . "6," maybe?
November 11, 2025 at 12:14 AM
ha. mine's usually at "9," sometimes "10." got family who reads their book-devices with reading glasses, which is so, so confusing to me. I show them how to increase the font-size, and they say they don't like to have to turn the page so often.

Yep

Only the second. Or, if you count a return between meals for a tea refill: third.
