Missouri’s first ECHO Suites Extended Stay by Wyndham will open in northwest Springfield in January. The 124-room hotel will offer amenities including dog-friendly suites, kitchens with full-sized refrigerators and laundry facilities.

At a candlelight vigil, Rescue One staff and volunteers honored four puppies that the nonprofit says were discovered dead on Dec. 12. Three puppies were rescued from the same property, and the shelter reports that they are doing well.
