Never Get Comfortable - Once the $1,000 goal was reached, then next goal was $2,000. Next year I hope to push up to $5,000/month.

Diversify incomes - Ad revenue from Google Adwords is a great starting point. But there is money to be made from affiliate income and sponsorship posts. Never rely on one income source!

Low competition keywords - Those first 50 articles were all based on low competition keywords. Despite them being "low competition", I still only ranked for a handful of them for a very long time.

Repeat The Process - Once I found a blog post that made money, then it was time to recreate it for similar types of content until I exhausted all content available. This allowed me to grow from hobby blog to a professional blog

Experiment - My first 50 blog posts were experiments looking at what kind of content I could rank for. Of those first 50, only 1 stood out that would bring in $100+ a month.

Branding - Make sure your branding is consistent across your site and social media platforms so Google and your customers know your site.

Sitemap - Upload your sitemap to Google Search Console for faster indexing. Keep your sitemap.xml file up-to-date with your most recent and popular pages.

Keyword Optimization - Make sure your Page Title, H1 and first paragraph all have your main target keyword present. Make sure #google knows exactly what your page is about.

Optimize images - Slow blog posts with heavy 100KB+ images are bad, especially on shared hosting that most new blogs start out on. Consider using .webp and optimizing your images so they are below 30KB.

Internal Linking - Add links between your pages to help with search crawling and passing internal link juice. Find your highest ranking pages and add other relevant links.
