Right, so _this_ image in particular is not the result of a mistake.

That is what the largest planet I'm building looks like when each one of its 9216002 faces (9215990 hexagons, 12 pentagons) gets rendered with a different color - representing their encoded face ids.

Direct comparison between the two latest versions of the atmosphere shader: the extra noise is subtle and the Mie scattering color banding is gone.

Ok... managed to dial down the noise to an acceptable level without bringing back the color banding on the atmosphere!

I think I can FINALLY put this feature to rest 😅

If you are not looking at an extremely zoomed-in screenshot, the extra noise in the atmosphere is not so visible. And it's not so bad as the color banding, at least to me.

Took me a while to notice a visual artifact with the latest version of the atmosphere shading that I'm not happy with: strong color banding at the point where the Mie scattering kicks in more intensely.
