Grassroots Dems should feel bolstered that this went as long as it did. Instead of turning their backs in defeat.
I will leave you with the last polling I saw.
We are a 40/60 nation.
At some point the pain of the shutdown outweighs the benefit of the fight. That had started to turn.

A President renovating the White House, going on a foreign trip, throwing garish parties in the midst of a domestic crisis.
The House Speaker dissolving itself as well.
A pissed off electorate giving the Dems a resounding victory at the polls.
I'm sure there's more like a large protest.

The shutdown was done with an eye towards 2026, and a new issue - ACA subsidies and health care premiums was put on the table.
Additionally we have the following scenes:
GOP indignant over $36B for ACA premiums and silent over $40B for Argentina.

The elections dictate how much power and what can get done in Congress. Anyone thinking that a GOP President, Senate, and House will extend these subsidies due to public pressure is too ideal at best, and too foolish at worst.

I can't tell if it is bots, or earnest people. But this shutdown fight is going to make you "both sides are the same" and turn on the Dems? Holy cow!
Honestly, the Dem's (probably House Dems)) pulled the ACA subsidy issue out of their butts. Did Kamala mention it during the campaign?

The outrage over here is playing directly into Speaker Johnson's talking points who has said for 40 days, "This is not about healthcare, this is about Senator Schumer's desire to avoid a primary."
If about healthcare, you would realize the value of keeping the issue relevant.

I am really curious...
1) Why blame Dem's when no one on the GOP lifted a finger (nor Trump) to to make health insurance more affordable.
2) What was your end-game for this shutdown? Remain shut-down forever?
This was more successful than 2013 Cruz shutdown.

At some point the pain of the shutdown becomes greater than what you are fighting for.
Look at the recent YouGov poll -- the Dems lost points and more people were moving to "blame both parties".

Good take.
We need more "$40B for Argentina, but not $40B for insurance premiums for Americans."
More "the GOP clearly knows our health insurance sucks but is avoiding single payer".
We got all this over the past 40 days.

Counterpoints:
What happens in Congress is dictated by their makeup. This President and Congress are not going to extend the ACA subsidies. This is a 2026 issue.
The economic effects of the shutdown were probably more than $32B that these ACA subsidies cost.
Trump looks weaker.

Senator Wyden. I understand that, but what's the end-game here if the GOP won't negotiate? Shutter the government the entire FY? Both options are a GOP dream.
But at least it looks like the GOP may be coming around against health insurers....

The 2013 shutdown went 12 days before Boehner caved. Honestly I would have caved on 20 October.
Besides, this deal has to go to the House. Who knows what will happen there.
Will the entire GOP caucus be like "we won't pay $32B in ACA subsidies, but $40B for Argentina is okay"?

The shutdown has made Trump and the GOP less popular, see election. But, he doesn't actually care.
At some point the pain of the shutdown outweighs any benefit and people get fed up with Congress as a whole.
I saw a poll this weekend "blame both parties" was taking a larger share.
