United States, 101st Senator, Californian, American

I'm better than your current Senators -- unfortunately, I'm too honest for Congress! Instead, I decided it's more fun to have a podcast

From a prominent Republican on X:

(Paraphrase)
"Maybe your rent and car insurance are also going up at $100 to $200. So, the GOP is making your insurance increase too. It's not like you and your spouse can get 3rd and 4th jobs".

For the past 40 days Speaker Johnson has held a press conference and one of his talking points was: "Schumer is only doing this to placate his radical base, it's not about healthcare."

Not even 24 hours after ending the shutdown, this space and other places are proving him right.
November 10, 2025 at 5:30 PM
I do not get this.

Everyone upset on the left is focusing on <checks notes> the party that made health care premiums/affordability a major issue in the past 45 days.

Instead of <checks notes> the party that demonstrated they won't lift a finger to reduce American's health care premiums.

Everyone losing it over this deal.

Does anyone expect the GOP trifecta to continue Biden enhanced ACA subsidies that no one was aware of before October 1?

Everyone is aware of it now!

Are people going to forget Trump GOING TO THE SUPREME COURT TO NOT FEED THE POOR?

One of the more cynical days in the Senate yesterday. Where the GOP spent it attacking the profits of health insurance companies for the past 15 years "since Obamacare".

I spent some time gathering clips from multiple fellow Senators.

The GOP is not serious about ending the shutdown. Period. Dot. Print that story.

Trump wants no negotiations (ie. nuke the filibuster). This is insane since you are the ****ing President.

Thune is pretending to want to negotiate.

The House is MIA.

The CIRCUS being run by the GOP has gone public.

President Trump in the past 24 hours went from "Make a deal or nuke the filibuster!" to talking some health savings account BS.

GOP Senators are channeling Bernie's hatred for GREEDY HEALTH INSURERS!

House still closed.

** SCOOP **

Solution to Dem distrust of GOP in the Senate is for Senate to either vote on ACA subsidy extension first, OR include ACA subsidy extension in the CR -- not "we promise a future vote".

MAGA/GOP should prepare themselves for ACA subsidy extension to pass the Senate with the CR.

Meanwhile, at the Supreme Court, the conservative justices are destroying Trump's tariff's.

With all this action going on in DC, we won't be able to keep up with whatever horrible ICE has in store for immigrants and citizens around the country alike.

Trump says: "Shutdown bad!"

How quick will Speaker Johnson and Leader Thune work to end the shutdown?

GOP is incoherent on filibuster.

You can't defend the Senate filibuster, and then refuse to negotiate. Trump at least gets this point, but will he negotiate with Schumer/Jeffries?

Speaker Johnson just defended the filibuster again this AM. As did Thune previously this past week.

You literally cannot both defend the filibuster, and then refuse to engage in compromise with the filibustering party.

It's a non-sensical position.

Here's why Graham Platner has legs. If you follow professional wrestling, you'll know the phrase - "He's good on the mic." This is why President Trump became popular.

Americans have grown sick of politicians who can't work the mic.

Re: Shutdown (Day 31)
Here's the problem with a "shadow negotiation in the Senate".

GOP Senator's don't speak for Trump. Trump rejects a Senate compromise. You have just screwed over Dem's for whatever they compromised on.

Media should point this out.

This is why TRUMP MUST BE INVOLVED.

Why ask about the GOP health care plan? It's this:

1) Americans pay more for health insurance.
2) Insurers provide lower quality care.
3) More money into health insurers profits.

Affordable Care Act is based on a Mitt Romney's Massachusetts law.

This happened on Day 4 of the shutdown, in 2013:

Did anyone as why President Trump didn't cancel his Asia trip? Is a shutdown not a domestic crisis?
President Obama Cancels Entire Asia Trip
Secretary of State John Kerry will make the trip in place of the president.

Anyone around who witnessed GOP attacks against 2008 Obama in that campaign may have deju-vu on GOP attacks against Mamdani as the NYC mayor.

It's the same garbage intended to make people afraid to vote for a young, charismatic, left-side candidate.

Obama and Bill Ayers....

The government shutdown may not directly be Trump's fault.

But Trump needs to be a part of the solution given his hold on the party.

Speaker Johnson said they were going to negotiate ACA subsidies in October/November? Nothing is preventing you from doing that buddy.
October 28, 2025 at 3:51 PM
It's GROUNDHOG DAY!

Mike Johnson and his GOP leadership team giving the same Press Conference they've done for the past 28 days.

"We've tried nothing and we're all out of ideas".

President Trump hasn't lifted a finger to end the shutdown.

This is surreal, and the Press should call this out.
October 28, 2025 at 3:01 PM
Fact Check for media reporting on the shut-down.

Compare this to 2013.

Yes, Obama did say, "I won't negotiate until the government is re-opened."

Yet, somehow they were able to negotiate and re-open the government after 15 days.

Trump and the GOP can't govern.
October 25, 2025 at 9:26 PM
Hear me out.

Let's say the US is actively killing gang members smuggling drugs.

Isn't there a concern that these violent and dangerous gangs wage war on American in our own hemisphere?
October 24, 2025 at 3:18 AM
When tax cuts expire (ie. Federal spending that benefits the wealthy), Republicans jump all over them to extend them or even make them permanent.

When ACA subsidies expire (ie. Federal spending that benefits working folk). Republicans have no interest in extending them or making them permanent.
October 23, 2025 at 4:03 PM
Are we ready for Mike Johnson again today.

"The government is shut down, and I'm not lifting a finger within Congress or with Trump to re-open it. It's entirely Schumer/Jeffries fault that the GOP won't sit and talk about it."

Some abusive husband schtuff....
October 23, 2025 at 2:15 PM
I would just like to point out.

Tripling the size of the House from 435 members to 1,305 members would accomplish:

1) Representation per citizen closer to the Framer's wishes.

2) Block/mute the gerrymandering BS going on now.

3) It would take a lot more $$$ to buy our politicians.
