…わたしも最初は「現実的な理想主義」という言葉に「口先だけバランスの取れた非現実的なことを言うんじゃないか」という不信感があったのだけれど、まあ政治的に非現実的だということを除くと、思ってたよりずっと真っ当な内容。現状の無茶苦茶すぎる移民迫害を批判するのに理屈はいらないけど、その後よりマシな政権が出来たときに備えた理論武装のため読まれてほしい本。

スピリチュアルな面でわりと影響を受けたのはUS福音派の、とある教会とそのコミュニティで、そこから知り合ったごく少数の人たちにセクシュアリティについてカムアウトしたあとなんだかまとめて疎遠になった。カムアウトの帰結は酷いものだったけど、それ以外の(そのことを知らないはずの)人たちから何かされたわけではない。ただ適当な言い訳をして離れた。こういう孤立は選んでいるところもあるし、文脈上そうなったところもある。

どうも共同体の儀式に縁がないみたい。

自分の親は熱心な仏教徒で、その人たちが取り仕切っている追悼の儀式とわたしはかかわりがない。
親とは音信不通というのでもないけれど、親戚を呼んでそんな行事をやっていること自体を10数年後に偶然知って驚いたことがあるくらい。

On one hand I’m glad Singleton didn’t get a platform to spread her anti-trans bile. On the other hand, these journalists were willing to include an open TERF & choose not to investigate the links between shit like FBS/“natural childbirth” & TERFism. Or covid denialism. That’s a serious omission.

Like one of the founders of FBS, Emilee Saldaya, interviewed Lierre Keith on her podcast because she's anti-trans & believes in "female erasure". The article mentions that Saldaya used to call herself a "radical feminist" but doesn't explain that that meant she was a TERF.

Isabella Malbin, with help from fellow TERF grifters Singleton & Amy Sousa, even offers online courses to parents on how to "keep their kids out of the trans cult". I wish more people looked into how anti-trans bullshit permeates the alt-health world.

I haven't seen anyone dig deeply into the overlap between shit like the Free Birth Society/"natural/wild birth" & TERFs, specifically ecofascist TERFs like Lierre Keith & Mary Lou Singleton. Of course people against "medicalized births" are going to be against medical transition too.

わたしが料理についての文章を読むのが好きなのを知った人に、ヴィーガン料理だけでなくてもいいのかとこの前言われた。このときは割とヴィーガン料理も出てくる本について言われたんだけど、食べたこともなく食べる予定もない料理の話はふつうに読むでしょ？？　倫理的基準に何を食べるか食べないかは左右される一方で、料理や食文化や経済について読まないというのはない。どういう回路でそういう想像をされるのかわけがわからない。

動物を搾取し死体を食べる文化があるのは知っている。人間にかんしても死刑制度を前提にしている文章も、暴力がエンタメ化されているものも読む。読めないこともある。こういうことが普段会う人に通じない。
