I have also found the story that I trunked before using its most basic seed of plot for “The Drowned Man,” so we’ll see how that one reads 10,000 years after grad school.

“Good” is subjective, here; I was trying so hard to be Robin McKinley by way of Neil Gaiman (it was the late 90s/early 00s, don’t @ me); it’s kinda adorable. But you can see Current Laura in there, percolating. Yes, child, eventually you’ll have your own voice, & it’ll be very into blood & violence.

It is really weird to read the Ancient Texts of Laura, man. For one thing, these stories are where I got my internet handle, so I’m reading about the history of the “seldnei” like “but that’s me?”
