I did not do very much art in 2024 it turns out.

Did a watercolour study of a photo and the first wash went better than I'd expected so I was too scared to do a second wash. Then I thought I'd try drawing it again instead and the first wash went better. I'm not used to things going well anymore. Wasn't gonna post this (iykyk) but here they are.

Scanned and touched up (with auto-levels mostly) a watercolour and ink drawing I did in a sketchbook back in 2019. My rogue main backing up Sylvannas when people were big mad we burned a stupid tree and because Blizzard hates to see women succeed.

The doll customizing is stalled a bit so I am doing some more watercolour. Trying to use more watery washes and not confident at all.

Tried separating some of the ringlets and it started to go messy and chaotic so I don't think I will be trying that any further. Also tested some combinations of acrylic paint colours on construction paper to work out potential face improvements.

Was messing around last night with my cheapest/worst watercolour paints and what turned out to be cellulose watercolour paper. Too scared to try a second layer on some of them but tried improving the lower left one with colour pencils earlier and its less bad now.

Finally finished wrapping the doll's hair at some point yesterday or the day before, and poured an entire kettle of boiling water over the whole thing in the hopes of helping to set the plastic hair into shape better. Been letting it dry since then.

What flavour is your OC?

He tastes like stale cumin and slightly mouldy sage. (Used one of the oldest images of him I could find because I don't know where the newer ones are offhand.)

This doll's hair isn't in good shape, and the attempts I'd made to braid it did not go well. Now I'm trying "rag curls". It's a lot slower than I'd expected but I have about half her hair prepared. When it's all wrapped I will try to set it using boiling water or some other heat thing.

One of the side effects of putting all my dolls in one place, is I found the doll I started customizing several years ago (but stopped because I made a mistake and was like welp I guess everything is ruined forever). Think I might try to work on it again.

Been saving this packaging paper that came in various things over the years. Was thinking that I'd paint on it or use it in crafts or something some day. But while trying to tidy/make it neater, I noticed there's old bug cocoons/webs etc in some places. Should I just recycle it instead?

Here is my doll shelf (and part the art shelf in it's new location). Wasn't sure how many dolls to take out of their boxes so a couple are still in them. I think this is more or less the final setup.

Just need to install two more screws in the base of this thing and it will finally be assembled. Then I just have to tetris all my Stuff out of the spot I want to place it (while trying not to block access to any of my stored art supplies), and I can finally display my doll collection on it.

Busted out the regular-ass HB and 2B pencils and drew some boxes at some point before rotting in bed all day and night. Couldn't be bothered to boot up the scanner so just took a photo with my phone.

Took a break from struggling with sketching to update my Minecraft Villager residence with a new entryway and automatic doorway. Also I used different dark blocks to make a gradient on the roof tiles to make the lighting stand out more.

Was following a youtube portrait study thing from my watch-later and used paper I'd previously been trying to get my old gel pen to work on (it didn't). The pen scratches left over made a kinda interesting texture under the colour pencil.

Decided to continue watching drawing exercise tutorials on youtube and I did in fact draw. Not sure how I feel about this drawing, but I did indeed draw (and paint, technically)

This character has many hands to be held. Technically he has even more hands than I was able to depict, but I didn't want to make it even harder on myself.

Ended up following one of the (probably hundreds of) drawing tutorial videos on my youtube watch later list. Ended up being forced to give up because I made the mistake of choosing construction paper. It did NOT take the pencil very well after one layer.

I'm counting our Minecraft roleplaying group going on an adventure in a Trial Chamber. (Clawed my way through this one repeating "it doesn't have to be good it just has to be done" through gritted teeth.)
