That's one of the key arguments for unfreezing fuel duty. That amount of money could fund free buses for the entire UK every year (or heavily subsidize a more frequent service which would be better IMO)

Anyone covering that many miles every week is doing so for business.

The use of the roads is then a business expense - how is public utility integral to your business but there is no cost to using them??

I realise this sounds like I could be talking about the cyclist which I'm not.

Was there even an attempt to assign blame to the cyclist interacting with the kid when approaching the junction too? Gross

Our kids love it, which is good because we love it too!

A good moment to go full Basil Fawlty on that gate - infuriating!

When I say it "looks like shit", I'm not just talking about the aesthetics.

Putting bollards up to deter cars in a place where it is already clear that cars should not be is just adding car infrastructure to pedestrian spaces.

These look like shit though, right?

Bollards are not just the width of the bollard - they are the area around them, which is often double/triple the width of the actual bollard itself. They're the psychological friction on pedestrians and people with mobility aids needing to avoid contact with them

Why should the pavement be cluttered and narrowed even further by bollards when basic highway code knowledge *should* do the work?

Someone who drives as part of their job should a) have better knowledge of HW-code and b) be dealt with far harsher when they break it.
