The cut-throat world of family-run cafe Mergers & Acquisitions

I can just imagine the BBC drama based now - probably called "Sarnies"

The competition must be fierce!

Rode our bikes 5 miles along NCN Route 696 and went to a Lego cafe in Bingley.

What a brilliant way to spend a few hours! £3.50 to rent a Lego set and relax for a while - what a handsome fellow he turned into 🦜

Made good use of the NCN signage too as Bingley is a bit of a mess cycle-wise 🫣

This is a nice touch 🌳

A very grey City of London street about to get some much-needed green

A ton of people fought hard for this - congrats @kitallwinter.bsky.social

Steeton and Silsden pedestrian and cycle bridge

"Over 600 residents responded, with 85% expressing support for the proposed bridge"

INCREDIBLE numbers for public consultation 👋

Took our bakfiets for a rare outing and whilst they are a fantastic, game-changing peice of kit, UK roads just are not up to the task of accomodating them.

Unladen, they're manageable. Throw a child in the front, and it's a real test of how much you want to live a car-free/lite lifestyle.

This is now my desktop wallpaper - cracking photo!

The food places upstairs seemed like a good mix with (mercifully) some decent sub-£10 lunch options for office workers

(Bonus pic because this was cool to see)

First trip to the new Darley St Market in #Bradford

1. It's LOVELY inside.
2. So glad to see the delis, grocers and butchers continuing to do what they do
3. For 10:30 am on a Thursday, it was heaving

Dan had a little whoopsie* of "cycling accident"

*Dan was hit by a car whilst cycling to work

Slowing down, speed bumps

I'm not usually one for a leisure ride but this was a nice 12k pootle along the Leeds-Liverpool canal

Yeah but does it have to look like *that*? 🫣

Hold on, let me just check the latest UK active travel spending review for the next 5 years...

Oh. Oh dear.

LinkedIn didn't seem like the place for it so...

Bradford council have released some images of the "Bradford City Village" project and I feel...things

Would you want to live in the homes at the bottom of this image?

Would you want to have 5 lanes of city traffic outside your front door?

"Cuddledoon"

Label from an old blanket my wife bought.

Not sure if it's supposed to be read in a thick Scottish accent, but I do every time I see it.

My current bike has a decent tyre puncture, a rusted drivetrain and zero tyre clearance past 28mm.

There is a looooovely 90's/00's Kona MTB in the shop up the road...

The level of restraint I am showing is very very admirable

It does seem smaller just by virtue of being further away from the viewer ha!

Still a chunky boy but better than taking up garden space - Adding some faux brick would make it properly British

In contrast with this

I know which one I would like to see more of

Sitting here, looking at this. It's by no means outstanding or exciting but:

- Decent sized, medium density housing
- Solar and roof-top heat pumps
- Highly visible shared play space
- Inviting place to sit and interact with neighbours

We could choose to have this in the UK but we don't

Today I learned safety information signs glow in the dark in the event the train shuts down
February 28, 2025 at 6:52 PM
Boy it sure would be a shame if the system used to upload photos as evidence had a maximum file size smaller than a regular smartphone camera

Oh.

(I used a jpg compression service online because I know that is an option - very poor design @westyorkshireca.bsky.social @westyorkspolice.bsky.social)

The fact that this cannot be sent off to an administrative office somewhere in West Yorkshire and immediately fined via post is so unbelievably infuriating to me @westyorkshireca.bsky.social

This is easy evidence to gather and easy to prosecute - it requires almost zero police time or travel
