I’m thinking of asking my representative to support this as well, but I’ve already pestered her about invoking the 25th Amendment to get Congress to impanel a committee to investigate whether Trump is insane.

To an extent journalism and the media makes it easy to maintain this idea. The narrative they like is that Trump is a huge outlier who made a radical break with conservative tradition. Journalists don’t evaluate history very well so they often miss the roots of the Trump phenomenon.

“Petition to…” was a fad in that category for a time. I remember an account on the birdsite whose gimmick was to start every single tweet with that.

You definitely need the giant 6-inch-think Oxford dictionary in your office. There was one in the reading room of my university library as late as 2017 and I used it all the time.
