It is lovingly worn, rather than a neglectful type of worn. There's a rope illustration around the border, and an additional block of text near the bottom that reads: "Ships that pass in the night, and speak each other in passing, only a lock and a voice, then darkness again and a silence." Published in 1894.

This is an ARC (advance reading copy) from 2018, which I read as a bookseller, fucking loved it, cannot remember a thing other than loving it. Gonna donate it, since it's been awhile.

But, there's a little sticky note with ears near the bottom right.
