I watched Back to the Future yesterday for the first time in forever and it occurred to me that Biff’s past and present looks seemed inspired by George Jones

First time visiting Record Safari in Atwater Village - terrific store. I had a stack of about 10 great records within 15 minutes, didn’t even get to browse the whole store. Narrowed down to these four which I’m very happy with.

It’s felt like an eternity since my last record shop visit. Atomic Records in Burbank yielded three for me today.

Took a trip down to Long Beach to visit Record Box, which I heard was sadly going out of business. Good news: everything was 50% off; bad news: the owner seems like a genuinely nice guy and there were so many people in the shop who were clearly regulars. Sad to see a community lose something great.

One more quick purchase. We were in old town Pasadena today and Commune Records was right there, so.

Have literally not stopped thinking about the records I put back last time I was at Record Surplus, so I went back today. Some of the ones I wanted most were predictably gone, but I’m still happy with what was still waiting for me.

Today’s haul from Record Surplus in west LA required a lot of tough decisions. Put back a lot of stuff that I hope will still be there next time I go. But I’m happy with what I bought!

I thought I was hitting the zeitgeist with this one - or maybe this is corporate synergy only @nedraggett.bsky.social might appreciate

Can’t wait for the next episode of Alien: Earth and the full canonical integration of the Weyland-Yutani-Disney-Pixar integration.

On a road trip and found this one at Boo Boo Records in San Luis Obispo. I love Skeeter Davis so much, and this is a great album. Including a terrific version of “Rock a Bye Baby” youtu.be/hCVt8ANTfRw?...

Went to work from a coffee shop today and was surprised to find a record store next door, Nivessa Vinyl on Pico. Good haul.

Latest LP hauls - two Tropical Fuck Storm albums I picked up at their show a week or two back, and three albums purchased today from Atomic Records in Burbank

Have very much enjoyed rebuilding a record collection I mostly sold off 10-15 years ago. Had a great score at High Fidelity in West Adams

Looking toward the Palisades Fire from my neighborhood. We are outside the evacuation zone and safe but that looks like Stranger Things coming to life. Wishing safety for everyone impacted

I always thought Beachwood Sparks was named for the Zombies song “Beechwood Park,” but today in Burbank I drove past a little side street called Beachwood, and the next street was Sparks

This has always seemed apparent to me (hence something like The Bear being a comedy) but I didn’t know it was an actual rule that a studio has to actively try to make exceptions for. Funny too that less than 10 years later we’re in an age where shows don’t worry about length from ep to ep
