the forced live service servers replacing community servers is one of the worst things about modern gaming
forcing all players regardless of playstyle or interests or attitude into the same pot and expecting them to get along is madness

yeah there's a definite issue when someone who wasn't there at the time can't easily just go back and experience it 'cause some of the plot took place in some side-title that's no longer available or was time-limited like the star wars fortnite thing

come to think of it the only places I can think of where that kind of shit is even close to normalised is in places like some second life clubs and "roleplay" chats that push "it's IC so it's okay" as the be-all and end-all and you're a bad roleplayer if you don't go along with it
