Gotta thank Ackerman for giving Cheney the obituary he so richly deserves. Can't compete with a bar like this.

Man, @gwillow.me didn't have to do a not-so-small amount of cape books like that. 😂 Love the work she and @biggleb.bsky.social are doing on Black Cat. Buy it where fine comics are sold.

Got some fun popcorn reading before I tackle the whole "spooky season" exercise proper.

Yeah, this is what I've been saying for awhile now. You don't get the willingness for Trump to go into overdrive, without Biden and friends making it acceptable to crush people for wrong think over their genocide of Palestine.

Finally got around to reading If You Find This, I'm Already Dead by @mattkindt.bsky.social and @danmcdaid.bsky.social. Saving a full review for another day, but it really does live up to the hype. Been reading more of Kindt's work lately and suitably impressed.

Chuck Austen might be the platonic ideal of what I love about the soapier iterations of the X-Men. Sorry folks.

John Constantine with a revolver is transparently such a bad idea and I love it. Delano really commits to how much of a joke John is at fisticuffs and direct violence.

I honestly assumed MENA characters aside from Damian Wayne were low key banned from DC, or at least had their being brown deemphasized given the lack of MENA writers. Saladin Ahmed mentioning Simon Baz's being Arab-American first thing has me feeling good about Justice League Red.

Oh right. The Sting foreword. Equally funny in its own right.

There's such a distinctive way to how Delano writes John's sardonic but casual nature. It really is comfortable in that calm before the storm kind of way.
Also got insanely lucky with artists, even after Ridgeway left.

Started reading the final Delano Hellblazer omnibus and Delano's introduction gave me a huge emotional boost. Be good to channel that concentrated fury against injustice into my writing.
Will post Sting's foreword later.

Reading Mike Carey/Chris Bachalo X-Men and we truly do not give this run enough credit for being slick as hell.

Started reading Criminal for the first time in over a decade. Somehow never read "Coward" before, but the comic in general holds up even with Brubaker and Phillips in a more larval stage. Even with Val Staples still their colorist at that.

Been reading Jason Aaron's Conan the Barbarian w/Mahmud Asrar, Gerardo Zaffino, and Matt Wilson.
As much as I love the current Titan run, holy hell was this initial 12 issue run like a shotgun blast. May need to get Bug Wars.

I think people really are forgetting that it's easy to ignore Superman being an immigrant when the most popular take actively rejects that particular interpretation. When you have 40 years of people cribbing John Byrne, what do you expect?
