Happy #StunDay to all that celebrate. The first time I knowingly encountered Sacred Datura was in the #Mojave National Preserve in #California. I could smell them from 20 ft away. Orion was racing the sunrise and made a great background.

A photograph of a Sacred Datura bush that is flowering. The flowers are white look like trumpets facing towards the sky. They are coming out of green tubes that are between dark green leaves. The plant takes up the lower third of the frame with some flowers going above the distant horizon to be outlined by the brightening sky. The left middle of the frame is where the sun is lightening the sky to the point that it is white, it graduates to a cerulean blue on the top right of the frame. Just before the frame turns white out of focus stars are visible including the constellation Orion facing up and slightly to the right.

I recall standing on those shores several years ago. Lake Teresa isn't too far from there either.
Not 10k ft high nor a lake, Nobe Young Falls is a short hike 1/4 mi each way I think at 6300' in Sequoia National Forest. There are some pools at the bottom.
A waterfall blurred by a long exposure so that it is a dreamy feathery white falling from the top of grey black rocky wall of a valley. The waterfall is broken in multiple places from near the top of the frame to the bottom. There are what appears to be pine trees at the top of the waterfall and on the right of the frame. There is green vegetation dispersed through the rocks as well as moss.

It is hard to believe that it was only a year ago that I got to first process this picture taken outside Great Basin NP. This picture was taken on 12 October; I couldn't process it until I got home on the 14th. The first of many pictures I took of #Comet #c2023a3

Comet c/2023 a3 at sunset just above dark mountains, the sky is graduated from a bright yellow on the lower right to a near black at the top and left. Stars are visible about halfway up the frame. In the foreground is a street sign that says "WELCOME TO NEVADA HWY 50" with a smaller sign that says "30 Years America's Loneliest Road" many sticks are on the smaller sign and there is a reflection from lights on the lower right corner. Other road signs can be seen in the distance as well as part of a starburst from a headlight on the lower right side of the frame.

I didn't have enough heavy cream to make this batch of ice cream (about 1/2 cup short) so I added some melted butter to it. OMG this buttercream frosting ice cream is so good. I am going to use butter in the next ice cream batch to see if it has the same effect.

A cloudy rocky beach. The clouds take up the top third of the frame and are grays and pinks from the sunset. The middle third of the frame is a blue gray rough ocean with waves breaking into white on the beach which is just visible going to the right of the frame. There is a land outcropping on the horizon that is dark gray/black coming into the frame from the right and stretching halfway into the frame between the ocean and the sky. The foreground and bottom third of the frame is the only part in focus and is a collection of rocks and pebbles of various hues. Most of them are gray and tan all of them are wet. Balanced on a black rock about one third of the frame from the right is a small rock that is probably made of quartz. It is white and cloudy and stands out against all of the gray in the frame.

I got so many compliments about the cake it made imposter syndrome show up. I thought it doesn't look, smell, or taste that good.
Here is the last remaining cupcake that we brought to her volleyball practice.

Now there are two teenager daughters in my house. On the plus side, they are both studious and generally kind.

The St Louis Arch at night being lit by ground lights making it appear brown or copper colored. The full moon is in the middle of the arch and is a mellow yellow. Thin clouds obscure the details from the moon and produce a hazy irregular shape in the opening of the arch. The sky behind the arch is a graduated purple. A few building tops can be seen on the very bottom of the frame.

It's a sad day in our household. Our Cherry Plum Tree has died. It's been dwindling lately and finally succumbed to the plum borers. It was here when we moved in, had pretty flowers, and sour plums. It'll be missed.

I took in 2 caterpillars some days ago. They were devouring my pepper plants. Just found out that if they eat enough red bell peppers that their poop turns red.

It is a cove that has aquamarine water with black rock outcroppings in the middle of it leading up to a beach with tan sand that leads to a cliff that has pine trees growing on the top of it and a waterfall emptying onto the sand. It is a long exposure so the waves crashing onto the beach are a blur of white and the waterfall is a cottony white blur. Beyond the cove the water is a vibrant sapphire color. The horizon is at the top of the frame and is white compared to the color of the water.

Charlie never served in the military.

It feels like #autumn a little. Going to enjoy a small salad with some light reading. A #classic The Island of Dr. Moreau.
And yes this is a small salad for me. Normally I use what some people refer to as a serving bowl for my salads.

A waterfall in a slot canyon through red sandstone. There is a shallow pool filled with various rocks covering the lower half of the frame. The canyon walls close in on the right and the left about one third of the way up the frame, next the wall on the right is a tree trunk with various lengths of 2x4s nailed into it making a rudimentary ladder. There is also a length of rope attached to the canyon wall on the right. Between the walls and at the top of the tree trunk is a stack of boulders that appear to be wedged in the canyon, the waterfall in flowing over them is a stream that is cottony white due to the long exposure. Beyond the wedged boulders is the rest of the slot canyon wall that extends out of the frame. Above the ladder is a sliver of green where the canyon wall has a break and vegetation can be seen.

I am not going to say it is not a crazy picture because it is. Just going to say that I got similar results on an alligator and the clouds. It was a 600mm lens as well.
An alligator head half out of the water and reflected in the water. It is facing to the left and is brown and tan in color. The water is a light blue with reflections of trees behind the alligator. The blue sky and clouds are reflected in the black eye of the alligator.

In the foreground is a dead branch that is resting on the rock on the left and leaving the frame, on the right it branches out into 3 primary branches with off several off shoots on of which goes into the water. The branch is also partially reflected in the water. The sandstone on the left and right are mostly in shade and there is a column in the middle that is lit by the sun. There is a little bit of deep blue sky in the top middle of the frame.
